Listening to Become Successful

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Why do most work at home businesses fail? Is it a lack of will power or desire? Is it a lack of knowledge of "business" or just the business that you’re involved with? What about a burning desire to succeed, or the willingness to be coached? Do any of the items listed above have anything to do with the high rate of work at home failures?

I believe all of the items listed above can be the downfall of any home business. However, the one factor I believe that caused the most failures in work at home businesses is the failure to listen. Yes, you read that correctly, the failure to listen. You see the majority of people love to talk. They talk about themselves; they talk about their family; they talk about their business; they talk abut their products; and they talk about just about everything else that involves themselves.

In all actuality, what these people are doing is selling. What are they selling? They are selling themselves, their business, and their products. And you know what? Most people hate to be sold! People love to buy, but they hate to be sold. So, if you want to become successful with your work at home business, ask questions and listen.

There is a lot of wisdom in the previous paragraph, because very few people ask questions and then stop to listen to the other person’s answer. However, if you find a successful work at home business owner I can almost guarantee you that that person is very good listener.

I received the following excerpt in an email this morning. I’d like to share it with you.

Will You Stop Talking Long Enough To Listen?

Have you ever been in the instance where you simply could not wait to blurt out what you wanted to say?

Have you ever wished you had said what you had said?

How many times have you gotten into an argument with someone, when neither person was listening to the other person?

Have you ever been in a discussion with someone, only to discover a little later, that both of you were actually saying the same thing?

"Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so"

There is a big difference between hearing and listening

Listening involves 3 processes:

  1. Interpret: This is where you begin to take in the information and assess it. As you hear the information you begin to make judgments on what you hear. You begin to either agree or disagree on the information.
  2. Evaluate: This is when you begin to determine what you will do with the information. Is it useful or not useful? How will you find the information if you find it useful?
  3. React: This is where you have actually evaluated the information, and you have made a full determination of what you think about it. This is the most challenging of the 3 processes; because it is so much better to respond than to react.

There are 4 basic types of communication which people have:

  1. Phatic: This is the "getting to know you" or the "building of relationships" kind of talk.
  2. Cathartic: This is the release of "pent-up emotion" kind of talking. This is the spilling of
    emotional information, troubles, concerns, etc.
  3. Informative: This is the sharing of information, ideas, or data.
  4. Persuasive: This is used to reinforce information or ideas, or to change attitudes to produce a specific action.

"Our listening habits are not the result of training, but rather the lack of it"

Studies have shown that we spend about 45% of our waking hours listening.

It is interesting that we spend almost half of each day listening, yet it is one
of the least taught communication skills.

Tests have shown that immediately after hearing a 10-minute lecture, which was properly heard and understood:

  • Only one half of the information was retained
  • After 48 hours, only 25% is retained

This means that of all things listened to, only 25% will be understood and retained for any real time period.

Good listening habits can be taught, yet they seldom are.

Learn how to listen, and your life will take on great new meaning.

That email, courtesy of the fine folks at Help End Hunger Now, is great for any line of business. If you deal with people on a daily basis you need to know when to talk, when to ask questions, and when to listen. If you do not now how to listen, learn! Yes, you can learn how to listen, and I believe it is necessary to succeed in any business, especially a work at home business. Why? I mentioned it before: "Most people hate to be sold!" On the other hand, most people love to buy.

If your work at home business can get a person out of debt, or can make a person some extra money so they can purchase that new car or home, they will buy into your business. However, do not try to sell them, but rather ask the right questions, and then listen to their answers. When they give you their answer, ask another question, and once again, listen to their answer.

It may take some time to get used to this process; but, if you are persistent and you learn the skill of listening, your chances of becoming successful with your work at home business will greatly increase. If you learn the skill of listening together with asking the right questions, I believe you will be successful.

Home Based Business or Franchise Business? - November 08, 201

When I think of people looking to home based business, or buying a franchise business, I typically think about their actual desires to do so. From my experience, I've found that many individuals tell you they would like to work frm home, but many have no idea what it takes to make that transition. So I have to ask the question, "Do they really have the desire, drive and fortitude to do what it takes to work from home?"

Desire alone will not get the job done. I can desire all day long that I want to be a professional football player, golfer, or tennis player, but if I do not put forth the effort, drive myself to be the best, and keep going when the muscles are aching, I will never make it.

Desire is more than wanting something; it's the will to do what it takes to become what you desire. And that's no different with a home based business, or a franchise business. If you want to become successful, with a home business, you have to have what it takes to overcome the pain and suffering when things are not going as planned.

Too often people quit before their, once sought after, desire fizzles out. Why? Fortitude! The willingness to stay the course when things get really tough; the guts to hang in even though others are telling you it's time to get a job; and the courage to continue moving towards your goals when the money is not coming in as expected. That's what fortitude is all about.

Another thing that comes to my mind is discipline! Do you have the discipline to be able to work from home, or run a franchise business? It's so easy to get distracted by all the things that need to be done around the house. However, to become successful, one has to have the discipline to avoid those distractions and stay focused on the task at hand. Now I'm not saying there aren't important household tasks that need to be taken care of, because all of us have them. And I know there are certain chores that need to be done on a daily basis.

What I'm talking about is the work that needs to be done to build your business. You need to be focused on that and that only, like calling leads, making sales calls, giving business presentations, and helping others. Unless you're an extraordinary multi-tasker, all distractions must be eliminated. Working to build your business is the key, busy work does not count.

This holds true for any type of home business or franchise, including Subway, Mary Kay, Pizza Hut, Tupperware, McDonalds, Arbonne, Amway, Serve Pro, TriVita, MonaVie, Send Out Cards, Great Clips, Herbalife, Melaleuca, or the like. Building one of these businesses does not happen overnight, and it's certainly not going to happen by NOT dong the work.

If you have the desire, drive and fortitude, you can build a successful home based business. However, staying the course, and avoiding distractions is a point of paramount significance.

If you'd like to learn more about a home based business opportunity, one that may be beter than a business franchise that offers terrific benefits and one that is easy to learn, contact me.

Get Educated Before Starting a Home based Business - November 08, 201
Is it just me or are there a lot of people walking around in a "Constant State Of Confusion?" It seems that they (you) spend their (our) entire lives just reacting to everything around them. Do you know what I'm talking about? It's the people (maybe even you) that never seem to move in a forward direction in their lives. Even when they (you) seem to take a step forward, they end up taking 2 steps backwards. This is especially true when it comes to people who would like to have a work at home business. And, with some people, this becomes so obvious, it even becomes predictable.

So, why are so many people in this constant state of confusion and non-forward movement when it comes to a work at home business? I believe it has a two-fold answer. First, people have been told that they can make lots of money from home just by working an hour or two a day. Although that may be true in some very rare cases, it's not the norm. Secondly, people have not been "educated" properly on what it actually takes to build a successful home based business. This, by far, is the main reason people wind up in a state of confusion, and walking away from their dream of owning a home business.

As I was writing this article, I received an email with the subject, "Legitimate Work at Home Job." Yes, believe it or not, there are a lot of legitimate jobs that you can work from the comforts of your home. Aside from that, what makes this email so confusing is the subtitle, "I want a job where I don't have to work a ton of hours to make a ton of cash," don't we all? I believe a statement like that is enough to cause someone to get all excited that they fill out the form and then join that opportunity.

After all, aren't most of us wired that way? Typically, we all want self-gratification and want to get paid what we feel we are worth.

However, after spending hours upon hours learning a new system (with our new home based business opportunity), we become confused and stop moving forward. We give up! We weren't looking to work more hours then our current job, but rather, work less and get paid more. It's easy to see why it can become confusing, and why someone would give up and stop moving forward?

This is the problem with many of the home based business opportunities that you find online. They promise you lots of money with little or no work, but in all actuality, you wind up working more hours and getting paid less per hour than your current job. But, that's NOT what they promised, right? Exactly! That's were the confusion comes in, and why people get frustrated and that's were being properly educated, on what it takes to work at home, comes into play.

Education has been programmed into our heads ever since our first day of school. Our parents told us to pay attention in school, and to get good grades. As we got older we were told to get a great education so we could get a great job, but as we got older and got out of school, a lot of us wound up working in a field that we dislike. So we start looking elsewhere for that self-gratification that is supposed to come from our work.

With that said, if you're looking to work from home, it's important to get educated, to learn the ropes from someone that has been there, or is currently in that situation. Learn what it takes to become successful. Learn from someone that speaks the truth, not someone that will tell you what you want to hear. If someone claims to be an expert, ask them for their credentials, or do a search on Google, Yahoo! or Bing. If you can't find any information about them, they are probably NOT who they say they are. In that case, you should move on!

A home based business is no different than a real job. You need to be educated. You need to know what the position requires. You need to get into classes or training, or read books or search the Internet. Learn what it takes to work at home before quitting your job. If you expect to get paid what your worth, get educated. Don't let days, months, years, and even decades go by with a lot more of the same "wandering generality" mentality. If you're in a state of confusion, about what it takes to work at home, learn so you can make an educated decision.

Avoid Home Based Business Scams - November 08, 201
Real home based business opportunities are in abundance. However, the Internet has become a breeding ground for get-rich-quick schemes. It seems to me that for every real job, there are hundreds of duds, and many may even be what some people refer to as scams. Don't become a victim of a scam. Do your due-diligence - research the company, and its principals, before joining any work at home business opportunity.

It's not hard to find a real home based business opportunity, and it's even easier to see the difference between a real work at home business opportunity and a scam. For example, if some one is making outrageous income claims, chances are, it's a scam. If the opportunity they are promoting is based strictly around money, like pay $50 to join and you will get paid a 75% commission once you get three people to join, it's probably a scam. Real businesses sell products, and are typically product based, rather than strictly selling an opportunity. In the real business world you get paid commissions from products and/or services that are sold, NOT on the number of recruits you sign up. There is a good chance that if the company is paying you for recruiting it's probably a pyramid scheme, which is illegal.

Here is it what the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has to say on this subject:

"Multilevel or 'network' marketing plans are a way of selling goods or services through distributors. These plans typically promise that if you sign up as a distributor, you'll receive commissions—for your sales and those of the people you recruit to become distributors. These recruits sometimes are referred to as your 'downline.'"

"Some multilevel marketing plans are legitimate. However, others are illegal pyramid schemes. In pyramids, commissions are based on the number of distributors recruited. Most of the product sales are made to these distributors - not to consumers in general. The underlying goods and services, which vary from vitamins to car leases, serve only to make the schemes look legitimate."

"Joining a pyramid is risky because the vast majority of participants lose money to pay for the rewards of a lucky few. Most people end up with nothing to show for their money except the expensive products or marketing materials they're pressured to buy."

So, if you're looking for a real home based business, do your research. The Internet has plenty of site where you can find out if the company/opportunity is real. BUT, you have to do the research! DO NOT rely of what a person is telling you - do the research yourself.

Working from home can bring you some extra monthly income, or it can help you to become financially free. However, that is strictly up to you. You have to set your goals. You have to decide what you want to get out of your hard work. You have to make the decision. Nobody can make that decision for you. You have to check out the work at home opportunity, because people will try to sell you on their opportunity. And if you're like the majority of people, you probably do not like to be sold. If you find the perfect home based business opportunity for you, and the company is legit, have fun and work to make your dreams and goals become a reality.

Franchise Business - 423 - April 22, 2010 -
Thinking about buying a franchise business? Well, now may be the right time, especially if you're looking to be in the restaurant business. Huddle House has announced its 2010 Development Incentive Program. For a limited time they are offering a franchise fee of only $5,000; that's a $20,000 savings. Huddle House is also giving new franchise owners five months without having to pay royalty fees.

So, if you're looking to open a restaurant, Huddle House might be the right franchise business for you.

Huddle House has been in business for more than 45 years. According to their web site, the "Huddle House foundation was created in 1964 as an answer to a simple need. High school football fans in the close-knit community of Decatur, Georgia needed a warm and inviting place to 'huddle-up' with family and friends after Friday night games. The idea took off, and one-by-one new communities gathered at their own Huddle House for delicious comfort food and southern-style hospitality." [1]

In their aggressive marketing campaign, the Huddle House is looking for "qualified franchisees throughout the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southwest for single and multi-unit development opportunities." If you fit the bill, this might be the perfect franchise business opportunity to come along in quite some time.

If you don't have the $5,000 needed to get started, maybe what you need is something similar to a franchise business, but without all the up front expense. Although there are a lot of similarities, there is an alternative to buying a franchise business, and that's with TriVita and their Sonoran Bloom Nopalea opportunity.

You now have a choice, put up thousands of dollars to get started, and pay royalty fees in six months, or pay very little to get started, and pay no royalty fees, ever. It's your choice!

A New Franchise Business - 412 - April 11, 2010 -
With the rage being tanning, there is a new low-cost franchise business in the marketplace. For a measly $26,300 you could be in the tanning business with iBeach, the first and only 24 / 7 tanning franchise.

According to their web site, "the iBeach franchise is an ideal business opportunity for all types of investors. From the small business owner who wants the flexibly and freedom of being their own boss, to corporations that are looking for huge returns on their investments by partnering with a high-quality franchise system."

At iBeach, "their goal is to provide their franchisees with the best of both worlds. The ease of opening a new business by adapting to their business model, along with the flexibly and freedom to make decisions based on local variables or personal choices."

As an iBeach salon owner and franchisee, iBeach will provide you with training that should give you a significant business advantage. They will cover many things in their mandatory training program including but not limited to, a sales process designed to sell more tanning memberships, how to manage your time and handle the every day operations of a salon, and how to motivate and enhance performance from your employees. According to their franchise business information, iBeach "offers everything to help you become a more successful business owner."

Ok, it sounds like a great company, but who has $26,300 lying around to invest into a tanning business. The U.S. economy is in the dumpers and the first thing to go when things get bad are the non-necessary items, of which may include tanning, at least the indoor costly type.

There are other ways to start a lost-cost business without paying the high-cost franchise fee, and other hidden fees. I didn't see anywhere in iBeach's information area that the franchise fee would include an actual building with a signed lease. Is that a hidden cost, or will that come as part of what many franchisors don't like to refer to as their "hidden costs." If you are looking for a franchise business, make sure you find out everything. Get all of the details.

As of the writing of this article, there is only one current franchise business and that's located in Waite Park, MN. There are two others opening soon. Those two will be located in Minnesota. I mentioned this is a new franchise opportunity, so make sure you check out everything on the company and its principals before signing any contract. Good luck!

Home Based Franchise Solutions

While doing some research on Google about home based franchise businesses, I stumbled upon an article about the advantages of a home based franchise. In the article I have found that a lot of business professionals believe that anybody looking to invest in a business should look for a professional franchise business. As I read further, the writer was talking about professional home based franchise businesses.

The article was pretty exciting because I think the best thing anyone can do for themselves is start a home based business. Since I'm pretty passionate about franchises I was excited to read the article.

Why a Home-Based Franchise Business?

Prospects looking at home-based opportunities need to consider the number of advantages and not pay attention to the disadvantages. One should not only look at the investment cost as a basis for making a decision, but what type of ROI one can receive. These types of business opportunities (home-based) should be assessed as per the same criteria as other franchise businesses (non-home based). While this category does offer the least amount of franchise choices, a home-based franchise can be just as exciting and rewarding as any dynamic retail or fast-food enterprise.

My research on Google about home based franchises. For the most part of my research I have found that if your considering a home based business, your best bet is going with a home based franchise.

Franchise System for the Business Professional

I was reading some posts in a forum on the Internet about franchises, and which franchise systems seemed to be the most professional, the best, and the most affordable. I came across this one post and I had to reply to the writer. Below is an excerpt of my comments:

Lance, in your post, you mention that "the best categories for profitability seem to be service franchises, auto franchises and unique categories." I agree with that statement with one exception, finding qualified technicians. Finding skilled, well trained technicians, in the "information world" that seems to have enveloped us, is quite difficult. We all know that employees (especially skilled technicians) can make or break a business.

When spending money on a franchise system that could provide a professional business person with a nice income, I'm not sure service franchises, and/or auto franchises should be where the franchisee should spend their money. As a former auto/truck business owner of twenty-one years, I know how hard it is to find qualified technicians, one of the reasons I sold the business.

Although I did not own a franchise business, I was a sole-proprietor, I still know how fast the vehicles, machinery, and/or equipment is changing. So spending money on a franchise, and then finding individuals to repair the equipment, will not be an easy task, hence, my feeling about purchasing a franchise in the service industry.

I believe there is a better solution for business professionals looking for a franchise, a franchise where they do not have to spend their life savings. To learn more about an alternative to a franchise business that I'm talking about, go to a franchise solution.

Franchise - FAQ's

Franchises play an integral role in our lives and the American society in general. You're probably a frequent customer at the local Quizno's or Subway franchise. You may even know people who have found success through a franchise business. Perhaps you've even considered purchasing a franchise yourself. If so, you probably have some burning questions you haven't quite been able to find the answers for. You're not alone!

The current economy and society have brought new concerns to the surface about the franchise industry. Here are a couple of questions (along with my answers) that are asked quite frequently:

1. Should I own my own business before buying a franchise?

Some franchisers would prefer that you didn't, but I believe that it couldn't hurt. The franchisor's reason why they prefer you not to have had you own business is, because of bad habits that they'd have to spend time breaking, if your business was in the same industry. You'd have [management] styles that may not be compatible with theirs, and the normal and natural thing would be for you to always slip back into your comfort zone.

On the other hand, having experience working in any business gives you discipline. You understand how to work with customers, meet deadlines and take on responsibility as opposed to relying on your co-workers and your secretary in a big company. All in all, I would rather have someone who spent years in business, but it's a personal preference among franchisers.

Either way, a lot of franchisers realize that people who come out of training remember about 20 percent of it, and then they struggle for a while until they grasp the rest of it through practical experience in the [franchise] setting.

2. Would it be wise to cash out some equity from my house to invest in a franchise?

Given today's interest rates on home loans, I would say go for it. What do you have to loose? Franchises are modestly priced. Even though, I would be careful with any investment. However, there's really no difference between investing in a franchise and investing in a stock. If you invest in a stable, secure franchise (stock) with a great track record and good performance, there's not a lot of risk.

On the other hand, if you invest in a franchise based on a trend or fad, or one that you don't know a lot about and haven't done your research on, then I would say no. I wouldn't invest a dime. But remember, that's just an investment decision. Most people use the equity in their homes because it's usually their major asset and they can borrow against it. Make sure whatever you're investing in is a rational investment. One more piece of advise, do not jump into something just because the salesman sold you on it.

Choose a Professional Franchise Business for Your Second Job

Facing some expenses in the future? Need a new car? Do you have a son or daughter going off to college? Want a new house? If you're facing some future expenses, why not start your own business? That's what I would recommend before I went out to get a second job. WHY? You can make a lot more money owning a business than working for someone.

Typically, there are many reasons why people choose to take on the challenge and responsibility of a second job rather than start their own business. People rarely take on a second job for pleasure. However, many people considering a second job hardly ever think about other options, like starting a home business, or buying a professional franchise business. A home business or a professional franchise business offers three benefits that the typical second jobs does not.

The first benefit that a home business or professional franchise business offers, over most of the second jobs available, is flexibility. A home business or a franchise makes it easier to work around your primary job and family commitments. There are very few second jobs that offer the flexibility of a home business. A home business can literally be run when and where you like. In fact, you could even work your home business of franchise business during your lunch hour. Unlike a second job, it's easier to get time off for holidays and vacations when you're the boss.

The second benefit of a home business or professional business franchise is you get to choose what that business is. You can take advantage of your own interests, skills, and God given talents, which is not something most second jobs offer. The likelihood of finding a second job that fits your gifts and your schedule is probably somewhere between slim and not available. The Internet can be a tremendous resource of information on every imaginable franchise, home business, or topic of interest; just do a search on Google. I'm confident you can find your niche on Google!

Finally, a home business or professional franchise business offers on-the-job training. With a plethora of web conferencing systems, it's easy to get training from a variety of experts in any field. No matter what you decide, there is a wealth of information on the Internet. Go to Google, and do a search. It can help you find the right professional franchise business so you can make your second job, a home business, both profitable and rewarding.

Remember, if you're looking to make extra money, look for a professional franchise business, one you can work from the comforts of your own home.

A Low Cost Franchise Business

Owning a franchise business takes hard work. Are you up to putting forth the effort it takes? Owning a franchise business can also take a lot of money, although it doesn't have to. There are plenty of low cost franchise businesses available, just search Google.

Back to putting forth the effort, even if you decide on a low cost business franchise, you will still have to put forth the effort to make it work. Running a business takes time, and effort to become prosperous, but like I said before, it doesn't have to take your life savings. A low cost franchise business may be an option for you.

I've mentioned this before in my posts because not everyone has the money to purchase a McDonald's, Wendy's or Burger King. If you're like the majority of people, and you want to own a franchise business, take a look at a low cost franchise business. Go to Google, and type in, low cost franchise, and see what is available, you just may be surprised.

If you don't find what you are looking for, check out the information at low cost franchise business by clicking on the link. If you have any questions after checking it out, you can contact me for additional information. But remember, whether you choose a traditional franchise business, or a low cost franchise business, it still takes hard work to be prosperous. If you're up to the task, do your due-diligence.

A Franchise Solution holds a great reputation for the best online work at home franchise business information available on Google.

Online Franchise Business

Effective marketing of your web site means the difference between success and failure. If you don't have the time or training to operate an online professional campaign, your chances of success are limited. You can make money on the Internet but it takes time and persistent hard work. For the most part, to succeed in an online franchise business you need to have a heartfelt desire and determination.

Search engine optimization is the key element to getting high traffic volume to your web site day. Without that one key factor, your web site is doomed to fail on the search engines. How to build an online Franchise Business Using a Virtual Conference Room

Online home based franchise business methods are continually changing on the net. Professional home based business owners are becoming aware of the new and advanced tools that are available to them. Many online franchisees are searching for these tools to enhance the overall productivity of any online franchise business. This post is an attempt to explain how you can use a virtual conference room to enhance your franchise business.

With today's cutting edge technology, online virtual conference rooms are a must for any small home based franchise business. The virtual conference room I'm talking about is a product of Vereconference, the highly effective web conferencing system that makes communications for the online franchise business simple. Individuals login to a room via a web address (URL) or link; this link will take them directly to the conference room. From there people will listen to the trainer speak about any subject concerning your business. There is no need to travel to other cities, or states to get the necessary training. All of the training can be conducted right on your PC, via the Internet.

VereConference's VoIP online conference room comes with a variety of tools, including recording features where you can save the training in MP3 format for later listening. The atmosphere of a virtual conference room promotes education at its finest. I use the virtual conference room everyday for communications with other possible franchisees, to share marketing strategies and other business ideas, and with customers, to share information about our products. Giving and receiving information is easy with a virtual conference room. Communication concerning your business is a must for any franchise business owner.

Virtual conference rooms can be used to train your executives or sales people anywhere in the world. Any subject can be taught in the rooms to improve your franchise business.

The Home Business Marketing Group is a big proponent of virtual conference rooms. The ultimate team uses these rooms to keep their team organized and up to date on all company information.

Fighting Inflammation

Nopalea and Inflammation - November 16, 201
What Triggers Inflammation?

First off, we have to understand inflammation. So, we have to answer the question, what is inflammation? "Inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses." So you may be wondering, what triggers inflammation? There are four basic triggers; trauma, deficiency, stress, and toxins. As we move along, we will take a look at each of the four basic triggers, and then look at how we can deal with inflammation.

When we mention the word "trauma", the first thing that probably comes to mind is an accident which causes some sort of serious or critical bodily injury. Trauma is typically associated with pain and suffering as a direct result of that injury. Even though most inflammation causes pain and/or suffering, inflammation can be a good thing, because inflammation is a natural part of the healing process. As a matter of fact, "without inflammation, wounds and infections would never heal."

Our bodily cells are alive. By many scientists, they are called the "building block of life" Cells are constantly changing, and they are directly affected by everything we do. They grow or change according to the foods we eat. Starving (deficiency) our cells of the proper vitamins, minerals, and nutrients causes our cells to become inefficient, even to the point where they break down. Thus deficiencies can and do happen, weakening the cells causing a chain reaction within our body, ultimately triggering inflammation.

Emotional stress can also cause inflammation. It's been noted that in stressful situations our brain releases chemicals, stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol), that trigger the release of many inflammatory processes. Because of the widespread damage stress can cause, like inflammation, it's important to know your own limit. However, how much stress is "too much" differs from person to person. many individuals can roll with the punches, while others fall apart at the slightest sign of frustration.

Research points to the fact that we live in a toxic world, and that our bodies are swimming in toxins. Toxins are every where you turn. They are in every breath we take and the food that we eat. Some foods are contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals.

I've even read that foods that carry toxic compounds "can cause the body to hold on to extra pounds by starting an immune reaction that causes inflammation," Toxins created inside and outside our bodies is seemingly unescapable, which leads us to believe that there is no escape from inflammation producing poison.

Our bodies are truly amazing as it can respond to trauma, deficiency, stress and toxins with inflammation. As mentioned inflammation is the bodies natural healing process, but where it all goes wrong is with runaway (chronic) inflammation wherein the body can't shut it down causing auto immune, and many other, diseases.

So how do we keep inflammation in check? According to TriVita's Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew, we should learn to become a partner with our bodies. We need to watch for the signs that can trigger inflammation. we should also reduce basic nutrient deficiencies by eating healthy foods and taking quality supplements. One aggressive inflammation fighter is found in the nutrient called Betalains, the main nutrient found in TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

We need to walk, run, stretch, and become more active. Activity and/or exercise in any form keeps your mind alert, blood flowing, and muscles moving. We also need to ease our emotional stress and learn how to relax. Anything we can do to help fight off the triggers that cause inflammation will help us live longer and healthier lives.

Sonoran Bloom is destined to become one of the top selling products for TriVita. To learn more about TriVita and/or Sonoran Bloom, click on this Sonoran Bloom link.

Inflammation and the Flu - October 26, 2010
As the cold and flu season is upon us, it's time to talk about its causes, and how we can protection our selves from having it effect our lives. Although it's something we cannot control, I believe there are measures we can take to decrease the impact the flu may have on our bodies.

I for one have always suggested preventative medicine as being the best medicine, like taking vitamin C at the first signs of the change in weather, if you're not taking it all year 'round. I'm also a huge proponent of a taking a daily multiple vitamin, something I have done ever since I could remember. I'm also a big advocate about the proper amount of sleep. The three items listed above, vitamin C, multiple vitamins, and sleep, I believe, can go a long way in protecting you from not only the flu, but other diseases as well.

Since I'm not a medical doctor or science professor, I'll leave the explanation of the proper way to protect your self from the flu up to TriVita's Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew.

Important Health News - Protect Yourself from the Flu
by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer

About this time of year many people ask me what they can do to prevent the flu or minimize its impact. That has never seemed more relevant than today; so, I will address this with the best science we have available today. I say "today's best science" because we simply don't know everything we need to know about preventing and treating the flu. And we need to remember that not all that long ago "current science" said that the earth was flat and diseases were caused by evils spells or dead ancestors.

Many people never get the flu - no matter which strain we are talking about. Do you? When you get the flu, are your symptoms severe? Are there high-risk people living with you? Then your preference for or against preventive measures must take them into consideration. (What if you got it and survived but transmitted it to them and they died? How would you feel?) In any case, 35,000-40,000 people in North America die of the flu each year. It is estimated that this number will double with H1N1.

Flu protection
There are three pathways you need to focus on with flu protection - any variety:

  • Transmission
  • Infection
  • Inflammation
Inflammation
We will begin at the ending: Inflammation from the immune system that incapacitates - even kills - people when they have the flu. MOST IMPORTANT: The flu kills people not by transmission or by infection, but by an inflammatory immune system response called the "cytokine storm."

Our immune system is designed to neutralize and excrete any non-self protein it finds. That includes the influenza virus. The size of the immune response needs to be equivalent to the strength of the invader.

Think of this as a building on fire: small fires are extinguished by local fire fighters. Some fires are so big that fire fighters from other departments have to be called in to help. So, fires are designated as "one-alarm," "two-alarm," "three-alarm," and so on. At a certain point, our immune system pulls all of the alarms and immune system fractions from all over our body rush to put out the fire, so to speak. However, this is a case of fighting fire with fire. Cytokines are inflammatory. They kill viruses and bacteria by creating inflammation.

The cytokine storm is responsible for all of the symptoms we feel: fever, body aches, nausea, diarrhea, etc. It is also responsible for filling the lungs with mucous (pneumonia/pneumonitis) which is often the fatal trigger in influenza, SARS, Hanta virus, bubonic plague, etc.

To survive we must modulate the cytokine storm so that it does its job but doesn't overwork and kill us. We make it work smarter, not harder. So we don't use Vitamin C or Echinacea or anything that "boosts" the immune system. We use immune system modulators so we get exactly the right response. Quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids), green tea polyphenols (found in Energy Now!) and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus found in Adaptogen 10 Plus) all help balance the body's immune system and decrease the cytokine storm.

Infection
Prior to the cytokine storm is the infection stage of influenza. The virus infects the cell by matching a cell receptor called Hemagglutinin. Hemagglutinin (the "H" in H1N1) allows the virus to gain entry to the cell and mutate the cell DNA so it can breed an infection. It also allows the newly mutated DNA to be incorporated into surrounding cells and through cell lines. Hemagglutinin describes "infection" with the flu. Two powerful natural bulwarks of Hemagglutinin are green tea polyphenols and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus) found in Super Sublingual B-12.

Transmission
Neuraminidase describes "transmission" of the flu where the virus disarms the immune system with an enzyme. This is the "N" in H1N1, H5N1. Neuraminidase inhibitors like Tamiflu limit the ability of the virus to transmit its DNA strands. Two strong natural Neuraminidase protectors are green tea polyphenols and quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids). It is likely that green tea polyphenols and quercetin will help your body do what it does best: resist infection. Think of them as the first line of defense to arm your immune system and help protect against the flu virus from disarming it. *** End of Article ***

To me, preventative medicine makes more sense and if vitamin C, multiple vitamins, or Nopalea can do one-half of what has been scientifically proven, I believe many people will be protected from the flu, not to mention living healthier and more active lives.

The flu can be extremely dangerous to your health. However, I believe, like so many others, that inflammation may even be more dangerous, because it is related, or the leading cause of so many diseases. And if we can continue to fight inflammation by drinking a product like Nopalea, I believe we can all live longer and healthier lives.

An Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle? - September 28, 20
It has been stated by reliable sources that just about every person living has or will experience inflammation at one time or another. Stats are available from many different web sites to back up this statement. So, is it possible to live a life without suffering from the pain associated with inflammation?

I guess you would have to break down inflammation into two categories, good and bad inflammation to find the answer. Since, according to scientists and medical personnel, good inflammation is necessary. However, it's my understanding that it's the bad inflammation that causes all of the pain and suffering.

And who better to answer the question about inflammation and how you can live an anti-inflammatory lifestyle, but Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita.

How To Lead An Anti–Inflammatory Lifestyle

Wellness is created in the way our immune system interacts with our environment – based on our genetics and modified by our behavior or lifestyle. Illness is really a disharmony produced by injury, toxins from inside or outside our body, deficiencies in vital elements like air, water, sleep and nutrients and emotional distress.

Sometimes we ask the wrong questions when we start to experience disharmony in our body. In effect, we ask, "What makes sick people sick?" As pertinent as that question is to a sick person, it is usually more productive to ask, "What keeps healthy people well – and how can I be one of them?"

Good inflammation?
Can inflammation really be good for you? Yes! For example, your body temperature is 98.6 F/37 C. We are able to maintain that warmth because of controlled, focused, balanced inflammation. We call this type of inflammation metabolism.

Our immune system also functions through focused inflammation. For example, "bad" bacteria are neutralized by inflammation from macrophages: critical elements of our immune system.

Bad inflammation
Four imbalances create disharmony in our immune system. They are:

  • Trauma or injury – Injured tissues first respond with beneficial inflammation. But if the inflammation becomes chronic, it will limit circulation by blood and lymph. Poor circulation allows waste created by the cells to accumulate, eventually becoming a toxic cesspool which can be the target for infection and disease.
  • Toxins from inside or outside of your body – Fat-soluble toxins and poisons from our environment may accumulate in our tissues and smolder for decades. These toxic tissues become chronically inflamed. Fatty tissues in our body such as our brain, liver and reproductive systems accumulate toxins and become the target for inflammation and disease.
  • Deficiencies in elements critical for life – Many people are deficient in oxygen though there is an abundance of air surrounding them. Oxygen deficiency causes acidic tissues; an acid body foments disease. Deficiencies in air, water, sunlight, sleep and nutrients are the most common causes of chronic inflammation.
  • The immune-suppressing scourge of emotional distress – Sustained emotional distress is a trigger for chronic inflammation. Actually, stress is also a known trigger for obesity and type 2 diabetes. Obesity causes more emotional distress and more chronic inflammation.
Your anti-inflammatory plan
We are made with the ability to respond to trauma, toxins, deficiency and stress with inflammation. Therefore, inflammation is not the enemy; however, runaway inflammation is definitely our enemy! Stop the domino effect of runaway inflammation before it starts by learning and living the 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness.
  • The simple act of breathing deeply can help reduce the impact of stress on your body. Oxygen also encourages an alkaline body; alkaline tissues are resistant to chronic illness.
  • Sleeping peacefully can also help reduce the impact of stress.
  • Exercise can ease the imbalance created by injury or trauma. Exercise may also make you less prone to future injury.
  • Reduce basic nutrient deficiencies by eating the appropriate servings of fruits and vegetables daily:
    • 5 servings for children
    • 7 servings for women
    • 9 servings for men
Further "fill in the gaps" of nutrient deficiency by taking the Healthy Foundation program.
  • Help reduce the effects of many internal and external toxins with Nopalea™.

A word about inflammation and disease
Once runaway inflammation is triggered, it follows an amazingly intricate course leading to catastrophe. Many of the disease processes are known to medical science, but many are not. One thing we know: stop runaway inflammation and health will improve! So, no matter what the "condition" is that is causing distress, reducing excess inflammation can help improve the way we feel.

According to many resources, inflammation is the one condition that lies at the root of your troublesome allergies, asthma, heart disease, and many types of cancer. It may be true what Hippocrates said, that "all disease is one." I just wonder if he was talking about inflammation?

If inflammation is the problem - Nopalea™ may be the solution.

Fight Inflammation with Great Tasting Nopalea - September 28, 20
In a past TriVita Weekly Wellness Report, TriVita's Chief Science Officer, Brazos Minshew, answered questions regarding TriVita's newest product, Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. I've shared the majority of the questions in previous posts, and have written about the most common concerns regarding Nopalea.

You can read some of my previous posts by clicking on the links below:

Is it Safe to Take Nopalea with My Medications?
How much Nopalea should I take?
Water, Nopalea, and Your Health

One area not discussed up to this point is the taste of Nopalea, and what makes it taste so good? Many users of the product always comment of its taste. Even after holding several tasting parties, the one comment mostly shared is about the taste of Nopalea. How could something that is supposedly so good for you taste so good? IS it loaded with sugars? Does Nopalea use artificial sweeteners?

To answer those questions, I will leave it up to TriVita's Chief Science Officer once again.

Q: Does Nopalea contain any sugar, artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors?

A: No. The fruit of the Nopal cactus naturally tastes sweet. Agave has been added as well. Agave is a succulent cactus from the Sonora Desert that concentrates a syrup or nectar in its root. We juice the Nopal fruit and filter the Agave nectar as the chief ingredients in Nopalea. We have also added many other fruits and vegetables to enhance both the flavor and function of Nopalea.

Some of the vegetables we added to Nopalea have a slightly bitter taste to them. The sweet leaf Stevia cuts the bitterness completely! So, I use a microscopic amount of Stevia to neutralize the bitter notes.

There are natural colors in Nopalea. They are made from the skin of cherries because cherries have an intense red similar to Nopal fruit. There are also natural flavors in Nopalea. These are made by distilling the aromatic oils and phenolics (compounds that give plants their aroma and color) from the fruit. Seasonal harvests of Nopal fruit vary from year to year, but natural flavors and colors keep our product more consistent than many other natural products. With Nopalea, you always know what you are getting!
Seeing that Nopalea contains other ingredients other than the fruit of the nopal cactus, I decided to take a look at the other ingredients. So off to the Google I went. Since there was not a lot of information, I decided to just stick with Wikipedia (www.Wikipedia.com).

First we'll look at Agave nectar:

Agave nectar (also called Agave syrup) is a sweetener commercially produced in Mexico from several species of Agave, including the Blue Agave (Agave tequilana), Salmiana Agave (Agave salmiana), Green Agave, Grey Agave, Thorny Agave, and Rainbow Agave. Agave nectar is sweeter than honey, though less viscous. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave_nectar)
Then we will look a Stevia.

Stevia is a genus of about 240 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to subtropical and tropical regions from western North America to South America. The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.

With its extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Medical research has also shown possible benefits of stevia in treating obesity and high blood pressure. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia)
There has been some concern that Stevia may not be safe. However, after several scientific studies, the facts remain that "despite all of the scientific evidence, both positive and negative, no clear agreements have been drawn about the dangers of stevia."

"On the one hand, stevia has been in wide use in Japan for the past 30 years, and to date, no evidence of any adverse reactions have surfaced during this time." (http://safety.lovetoknow.com/Dangers_of_Stevia)

If you have any concerns regarding Nopalea, its ingredients, and is it safe, you should always contact your health professional or your medical doctor. I'm not a medical professional, or a scientist, nor do I profess to know all about this product. All I know is that regular users have been getting tremendous results, especially when it comes to fighting inflammation. And, I believe there is enough scientific evidence to back up that statement. All you have to do is do the research - DO NOT take my word for it.

TriVita - A Work at Home Experience - September 14, 20

From time to time people ask me what I do. Taking the low road, I usually say I'm a web designer and SEO strategist, even tough I love my TriVita business. So why would I not tell them about TriVita, and that I'm in a network marketing business? Like so many of us, I believe it's the fear of rejection. The fear of loosing a friend, or being accused of working some kind of a pyramid scheme. Whatever the case, bugging my friends to join me in business has never been a passion of mine.

So many individuals that have a work at home business bug their friends to death about joining them. I've seen plenty of relationships destroyed over network marketing, and I'm not about to join that group. However, after reading an article on Google, I may have to change my mind. Below is an excerpt of the article, which can be read in its entirety by going to, http://www.scamxposer.com/trivita-business-opportunity-reviews.html.

...How refreshing!

It took almost 50 years, but there actually is 1 Network Marketing business (well, Trivita is actually called "Cooperative Marketing") that has FINALLY figured it out!

ALL of the problems people have ever had with network marketing - MLM absolutely do NOT exist here!

You know... SIMPLE things like "where do I find a constant source of people hungry for the products?" -or- "I don't like talking to friends & family about my businesses" -or- "" can't figure out how to recruit anyone... or don't like recruiting period" -or- "I don't want to stock products at home" -or- "I never see long term residual income because 95% of my downline quits every year" -or- ... (fill in the blank with what you hate most about MLM)

With Trivita, you can build a consistent, reliable & huge RESIDUAL income entirely from home WITHOUT having to bug friends and family or have any sales or marketing skills whatsoever.

Not only is this a legitimate, highly profitable home based Internet business, but it is now my #1 recommended business opportunity... and the ONLY network marketing business that I currently recommend... and will probably EVER recommend!

WOW!!! That's some statement regarding TriVita, wouldn't you agree? I would have to say that TriVita has figured out the network marketing industry. They have created a work at home business model that cannot be beat. It's the only home business opportunity where you don't have to bug your family and friends. However, you can if you really want to show someone how to create a genuine work at home business, and create long term residual income.

I've been working this business for just over two years, and all it has done is continue to grow. And I have one gentlmen in my upline that stopped working the business for 7-8 months, and came back to see the business has grown "exponentially." I don't think you can say that about many other network marketing businesses, of any at all. That is what TriVita is all about!

If you'd like to learn more about TriVita, call or email me. I'd love to share this terrific opportunity with you.

Work at Home Success - September 13, 20

When I think of people looking to work at home I typically think about their actual desires to do so. from my experience, I've found that many individuals tell you they want to work at home, but many have no idea what it takes to make that transition.

And that's no different with a work at home business. If you want to become successful, with a work at home business, you have to have what it takes to overcome the pain and suffering when things are not going as planned.

Do you have the discipline to be able to work from home? It's so easy to get distracted by all the things that need to be done around the house. However, to become successful, one has to have the discipline to avoid those distractions and stay focused on the task at hand. Now I'm not saying there aren't important household tasks that need to be taken care of, because all of us have them. And I know there are certain chores that need to be done on a daily basis.

What I'm talking about is the work that needs to be done to build your business. You need to be focused on that and that only, like calling leads, making sales calls, giving business presentations, and helping others in your organization. Unless you're an extraordinary multi-tasker, all distractions must be eliminated. Working to build your home business is the key, busy work does not count.

This holds true for any type of work at home business, including Mary Kay, Tupperware, Arbonne, Amway, TriVita, MonaVie, Send Out Cards, Herbalife, Melaleuca, or the like. Building one of these businesses does not happen overnight, and it's certainly not going to happen by NOT dong the work.

If you have the desire, drive and fortitude, you can build a successful work at home business. However, staying the course, and avoiding distractions is a point of paramount significance.

If you'd like to learn more about a work at home business opportunity that offers terrific benefits and one that is easy to learn, contact me.

Nopalea - 909 - September 08, 20
I've been asked this question several time: "Are there any side effects and/or any known conflicts with prescription medication?"

Not being a healthcare professional, or a medical doctor, I cannot answer that question. However, from my research, I have yet to find a person suffering any side effects from drinking Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. I have also found that since Nopalea is an all natural product, there are no currently known side effects, on its own, and/or with prescription drugs.

DISCLAIMER: I an NOT a medical doctor or healthcare professional, nor to I portray myself as such. ALWAYS check with your family doctor or healthcare professional before taking any nutritional supplement.

In a recent TriVita newsletter, Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer, answered the question, "Is it safe to take Nopalea with my medications?" this way:

"There are no known conflicts between Nopalea and medications. Nopalea contains natural ingredients and its main ingredient is derived from the fruit of the Nopal cactus (Opuntia ficus indica) from the Sonora Desert. It is low calorie and low carbohydrate, so it must be calculated as any other food in your total dietary intake of these macronutrients."

"Some of the older blood thinners are more easily adjusted if a person is not eating vegetables or fruit or drinking juices during the 'calibration' phase. Your doctor or pharmacist will give you specific instructions if this pertains to you."

"Always ask your health care team if you are in doubt or have questions. However, TriVita's Medical Advisory Board has examined Nopalea closely. In general, there are no known conflicts between Nopalea and medications."

Fighting Inflammation

Fighting Inflammation - 86 - August 05, 2010

Fighting Inflammation

I have been reading a lot about inflammation and what it can do to a body. I know there are a lot of people out there that suffer from it and there are those who do not even know they do and most of them end up going to the doctor and trying to fight the pain with drugs. Inflammation does not and is not suppose to be handled this way it can be taken care of with natural herbs.

Doing a search on Google for inflammation you will find that a lot people that hear the word 'inflammation' think of the swelling and redness that accompanies an injury such as a sprained ankle. However, inflammation can also be systemic and caused not by injury but by lack of exercise and a poor diet, I never heard of this but as I was reading all of this I realized that this was talking about me. As I read on it said Systemic inflammation increases the risk of cancer, hypertension, heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, and many other health conditions.

In fact, many anti-aging professionals believe that inflammation is the greatest cause of premature aging, so preventing it is also vital for looking young. Taking on an exercise program is one key to decreasing systemic inflammation, and the other key is to consume a diet that does not promote inflammation.

Arthritis, another form of inflammation, is a chronic disease, which means that you can't completely escape from it by using only medication and other traditional treatments. However, there are some home remedies for arthritis that are considered excellent alternatives because they safe to use, and quite effective.

I do not have arthritis but I do have pain in my back and upper legs due to two surgeries that I had over the summer and I have I have found out that I am not getting the proper exercise. My diet is good. I do eat foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, and fish, especially ones high in omega-3 essential fatty acids that are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Here is how I am going to fight inflammation:
I have found a product from Trivita called TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. I will keep my websites and blogs up to date on how everything is going. This is what I know about TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

Arthritis, another form of inflammation, is a chronic disease, which means that you can't completely escape from it by using only medication and other traditional treatments. However, there are some home remedies for arthritis that are considered excellent alternatives because they safe to use, and quite effective.

Inflammation of a joint, or its surrounding tissues, accompanied by pain, soreness, and inflexibility in that area is more than likely a result of causes ranging from infection, distress, degenerative changes or metabolic disorders.

Arthritis has many causes, however, genetics is one of the main causes. When it's in the genes, it's possible to experience problems even at a young age. It's considered hereditary when cartilage, joints, tendons, or muscles are weak and brittle right from birth.

Exercise is an essential means of managing arthritis. Exercise can help reduce joint pain and stiffness, and at the same time can help build strong muscles around the joints, and help to increase flexibility and endurance. Exercise can also give you more energy, can help you sleep better, can help you control your weight, and more importantly, it can make you feel better.

Exercise, diet, and proper supplements can go a long way in providing relief from arthritis and many other forms of inflammation. Eating healthy foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, and fish, especially ones high in omega-3 essential fatty acids, are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Eating all natural foods and giving up preservatives and additives can actually prevent future arthritis flare-ups, and help to relieve inflammation. The best medicine for inflammation and arthritis is prevention.

If you do suffer from inflammation, there is one all natural product that helps to fight inflammation it is TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

Omega-3 and Fighting Inflammation - June 28, 2010 -

Nutritionists have known for a long time that seafood is a low-fat source of high-quality protein. Eating seafood is one of the best choices for children, adults, and the aging population, and the health benefits are simply amazing. In fact, many studies have shown that eating seafood can decrease your risk of heart attack, stroke, obesity, hypertension, and even decrease, or in some cases, total reduce inflammation.

Inflammation is a process in which the body's white blood cells and chemicals help protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses.

"When inflammation occurs, chemicals from the body are released into the blood or affected tissues. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area of injury or infection and may result in redness and warmth. Some of the chemicals cause a leak of fluid into the tissues, resulting in swelling. This process may stimulate nerves and cause pain." [2]

The immune system, a complex array of organs, tissues and specialized cells, protects us from outside invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, allergens and from harmful insiders, such as infected cells and toxins. However, the immune system is not segregated (immune) from disease that attacks the human body.

"Several chronic diseases involve the immune system. The most common are rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, psoriasis (an inflammatory skin condition), and some allergies. In these conditions the immune system overacts and the inflammation that results contributes to the disease symptoms - painful joints, itchy skin, swelling, redness, wheezing, etc. These overactive immune responses can be toned down by the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. For this reason, the oils in fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, herring, rainbow trout, and sardines, can be helpful in reducing the severity of the symptoms of these conditions. Omega-3s cannot prevent or cure these conditions, but they may make a noticeable improvement in the discomfort associated with them."[1]

A diet that consists of fish high in omega-3 fatty acids can provide an added benefit one needs to ward off disease and illness. However, many people may not like fish. If that's the case, there are omega-3 supplements, like TriVita's Omega Prime.

Omega Prime contains a premier and unique blend of four different types of the most highly regarded Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) oils – Fish, Flaxseed, Evening Primrose and Perilla Seed. It also uses only contaminant-free fish oil that has undergone a 10 stage distilling process.

Start taking control of your health by adding omega-3 to your diet. Take advantage of what the nutritionists have known for a very long time - fish, high in omega-3 fatty acids, is needed to maintain a health body.

You can find additional information on Omega Prime and all of the TriVita nutritional products by going to the TriVita Products page.

Water, Nopalea & Your Health - June 01, 2010 -
Energy drinks, sport drinks, fitness drinks, carbonated beverages, and fruit drinks may not be a healthy choice. Many are filled with excessive caffeine, sugar, or are high in fructose. As many health experts keep saying, "Drinking water is so important for good health."[1]

Why is water so important? Because "your body is estimated to be about 60 to 70 percent water. Blood is mostly water, and your muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water."[1] It's also a know fact that "your body needs water to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all your organs. Water also transports oxygen to your cells, removes waste, and protects your joints and organs."[1]

Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer, in TriVita's Weekly Wellness Report, looks at all the alternatives to water. I've included the complete article below.

Are There Alternatives for Water? by Brazos Minshew

Healthy Living Essential #2 is Drink Water. Many people don't follow this Essential for one reason or another. Some use water "alternatives" instead. But I can tell you, with full conviction, that there are NO alternatives to water! You must drink water and you must drink it in abundance.

Pros and cons of water "alternatives"
Let's look at some of the positive and negative aspects of so-called alternatives to water:

  • 100% fruit juice - contains some vitamins, minerals and a lot of sugar. In fact, a 16-ounce glass of fruit juice contains about 50 grams of sugar and 220 calories. Fructose, or fruit sugar, reduces the rate at which we absorb fluid and can actually make you thirstier, leading to over-consumption of calories from juice.
  • Sport drinks - often contain fructose or sucrose syrups, flavorings and colorings. The electrolytes, sodium and potassium are helpful for endurance-type exercise or activity, but not necessary for everyday exercise. A 16 ounce sport drink has roughly 30 grams of sugar and over 100 calories.
  • Energy drinks - contain vitamins, amino acids, a lot of sugar and caffeine. Although advertised as providing more energy, what they really provide is more calories and caffeine. Added caffeine can be temporarily energizing, but often leads to a rapid dip in energy and can be potentially habit forming. An eight ounce energy drink has about 115 calories and 80 milligrams of caffeine.
  • Fitness waters - these waters are laced with an assortment of nutrients, herbs, flavorings and/or sweeteners. These enhancements are usually too insufficient to have any meaningful impact on your health; plus these waters can be costly. As for calories, they can contain anywhere from 10 to 100 or more calories in a 16 ounce drink.
  • Carbonated beverages - such as regular or diet sodas can be high in sugar or artificial sweeteners and caffeine. Colas are also high in phosphates, which bind with calcium and weaken bones. Regular soda can contain up to 200 or more calories for 16 ounces.
  • Coffee, tea and lattes - are also very popular. But along with the caffeine, they often contain added sugars and fats which can add up to as many as 450 calories for a 16 ounce drink. Since most caffeinated products provide very few nutrients, it is typically advised to keep intake low.
  • Flavored waters - are waters with a touch of natural flavoring. By itself, this is fine. Unfortunately, however, many flavored waters contain sugar (some even have more than a can of soda pop) or caffeine and other additives, all of which should be avoided.
In contrast to the water alternatives above, we can get water that is good for us from food. Many fruits and vegetables, for example, are high in water content as well as antioxidants (which is a nice plus). The guideline for consuming the right amount of fruit and vegetables is 5, 7 or 9 servings daily, depending upon our size and gender.

Healthy ways to spice up your water

In summary, we now know two things. First, there are no real alternatives to water - they all have too many drawbacks. And second, water is essential to good health - it helps the body both detoxify and fuel metabolism for energy.

But these two findings present a problem for all of the people who feel that water is just too boring to drink on a regular basis. They are likely to wonder, "Are there ways to make my water taste better? And are there drinks besides water that can help support my body's detoxification and metabolic processes?" The answer is YES. You can use the recipes below to spice up your water while adding extra detoxification and metabolism support:

  • Nopalea Splash: Take 6 ounces of naturally carbonated spring water and add 1 ounce of Nopalea™ to it for a hydrating, detoxifying and refreshing beverage that naturally helps reduce inflammation.
  • Tea Time 10 Plus: Take 6 ounces of either hot or cold green tea and add 1 ounce of Adaptogen 10 Plus®. You can get the health benefits of green tea coupled with the stress-busting effects of adaptogens. Water: the life-essential beverage
At birth, water can make up as much as 80% of a baby's body weight. Yet at death, for adults in their 70s and 80s, water often makes up less than 40% of the body weight.

Water is life. And in a sense, dehydration equals death.

Drink Water - and claim the health benefits of this life-giving liquid!

*** End of Article ***

Do you still think alternative drinks are better for you than plain water? As Mr. Minshew mentioned, "there are no real alternatives to water." Many people may think so, but in all honesty, there is NOT. No matter how much a commercial may try to sell you on there alternative, you may be doing more harm than good (to your body) if you do not drink enough water.

So how much water should you be drinking a day. According to some sources, you can take your weight and divide it by two. That will give you a simple solution as to the amount of ounces of water you should be drinking every day. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds, divide that number in half, which equals 90, you should be drinking 90 ounces of water per day. And, if you exercise, you should drink another 8 ounces of water for every 20 minutes of exercise.

Omega-3 and Inflammation - May 04, 2010 - 8
I've been writing about omega-3 fatty acids for some time now. Research continues to show how important these fatty acids really are to the human body. The latest study at the University of Pittsburgh confirms what previous studies have found. "Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine went on a molecular fishing trip and netted a catch of new mediators that not only can explain how omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation, but also hint at novel treatments for a host of diseases linked to inflammatory processes." [1] Before I continue with this study, let's take a look at what omega-3 fatty acids are, and the health benefits behind them. To do so I've included a quote below from the University of Maryland Medical Center's web site: "Omega-3 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids: They are necessary for human health but the body can't make them -- you have to get them through food. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut, other seafood including algae and krill, some plants, and nut oils. Also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), omega-3 fatty acids play a crucial role in brain function as well as normal growth and development. They have also become popular because they may reduce the risk of heart disease. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish such as mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, and salmon) at least 2 times a week." [2] All of the research I've found concurs that "omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function." [2] This information is not from a single study, rather from numerous studies over several years in which universities have been doing research. Runaway inflammation can lead to various serious health problems in the body involving the heart, arteries, lungs, joints and more. That's probably why so much research is being done not only on inflammation but also on nutrients, like omega-3 fatty acids, that fight inflammation. If you're looking to incorporate more omega-3-fatty acids into your diet, fish is your best bet. The purest choice fish include canned sardines or mackerel, wild Alaskan salmon and sable fish, and small, troll-caught tuna. However, if you're not a fish eater, TriVita's Omega Prime is a supplement that's high in omega-3 fatty acids. TriVita's Omega Prime contains a premier and unique blend of four different types of the most highly regarded Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) oils – Fish, Flaxseed, Evening Primrose and Perilla Seed. It also uses only contaminant-free fish oil that has undergone a 10 stage distilling process. Just as research on omega-3 fatty acids will continue, I will continue to write about what researchers find regarding this highly important nutrient. Fighting Inflammation - 53 - May 02, 2010 - 1
We seem to live in a society of immediate gratification, where we want it now, not tomorrow. That may work for some things, like buying a new computer or television, but not when it comes to your health. Healing takes time! Sometimes we even have to go through physical therapy to recover from an injury, and that takes time and hard work.

The same goes for fighting chronic pain caused by inflammation; it takes time to rid the body of the cause of inflammation. As Mr. Brazos Minshew explains the healing process in his weekly wellness report, you may learn that there's no quick fix when it comes to fighting inflaammation. I've included the complete report below:

Take the Nopalea Loading Phase
by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer.

You can't put out a forest fire with a single pail of water. Likewise, you can't break the cycle of inflammation with a single serving of Nopalea.

We need to meet the level of inflammation in our body with an equivalent force of anti-inflammatory Betalains from Nopalea. We must quench inflammation with a Nopalea Loading Phase (NLP).

The cycle of inflammation
Inflammation in your body is like a campfire: when properly contained it is useful for warming your body and cooking your food. However, when even a single ember escapes the hearth and remains unquenched, it can smolder and spread until it burns down an entire forest!

The cycle of inflammation begins with injury or trauma, toxins or poisons, deficiency or stress. When inflammation is controlled and balanced, it facilitates:

  • Repair of the injury.
  • Elimination of the toxins and poisons.
  • Relief for many forms of deficiency and stress. For example, controlled and balanced inflammation relieves blood and oxygen deficiency in areas of poor circulation.
Runaway inflammation persists long after the cause has been removed. It continues to smolder and spread until something breaks the cycle. With fire, usually a little water will quench an ember before it causes a forest fire. With runaway inflammation in our body, we need anti-inflammatory nutrients that will remove the cause as well as the effect of inflammation. However, the same amount of water that quenches a single ember will not douse the flames of a forest fire. The same level of anti-inflammatory nutrients that will balance daily trauma, toxins, deficiency and stress will not "put out the fire" of runaway inflammation.

The Nopalea Loading Phase
We are a people on fire: we typically have runaway inflammation raging in one or more places of our bodies. We suffer from this because so many of our health problems stem from this very condition. And if our inflamed condition is greater in size and intensity, the greater our response will have to be in order to put out the fire.

That makes sense, doesn't it? I mean, if you have a forest fire of inflammation you can't put it out with a single pail of water. The same is true with our health: If we have been suffering from major inflammation over a long period of time, we need a REALLY SIGNIFICANT RESPONSE to put out the fire.

We need a Nopalea Loading Phase.

The Betalains in Nopalea are anti-inflammatory – as such, they put out the fire of inflammation. But how much Nopalea do you need? That depends: How big is the fire you are trying to put out?

For maintenance, the label suggests drinking 1 to 3 ounces a day; this amount is needed every day just to fight the inflammatory effects of our diet, air and water pollution, and even everyday stress. But you need to take more in the beginning to break the cycle of inflammation. Here is how the Nopalea Loading Phase works:

1. Pre-Evaluation: Before taking Nopalea for the first time, record your level of pain and rate the discomfort you feel. Also, look at things you may not readily associate with inflammation. For example, how well are you sleeping? Write it all down.
2. Complete the Loading Phase: Drink 3 to 6 ounces of chilled Nopalea every day for 30 days.
3. Post-Evaluation: After 30 days, assess how you feel in comparison to before you started the Loading Phase. Most people find a significant difference and I'm sure you will too.
Keep following the Loading Phase directions until the cycle of inflammation is extinguished in your body. Remember, only YOU know how much Nopalea you will need or how LONG you will need to continue the Loading Phase. Trust your intuition.

  • If you think you need more – take more.
  • If you think you need to continue the Loading Phase beyond 30 days – then keep doing it.
Trust your instinct because only you can tell when the cycle of inflammation in your body is broken.

Restoring balance
Nutrient deficiencies create inflammation. That's why it makes enormous sense to take a full serving of healthy aging nutrients to support our bodies' firefighting efforts. Furthermore, each of the 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness is also anti-inflammatory in nature. So if we fail to abide by these timeless, natural laws, we could very well be fanning the fires of the inflammatory problems we're ultimately trying to overcome. It's important to remember that once you have subdued the flames of runaway inflammation, you need to follow Nopalea's maintenance regimen to help prevent any smoldering inflammatory embers from re-igniting again. *** End of Report ***

So many of the maladies we suffer from today are related to inflammation. Nopalea contains Betalains, a great inflammation fighter. Testimonials from around North America report amazing improvement in well-being with Nopalea. Science from around the world details the astounding health benefits from Betalains found in the Nopal cactus. How Our Bodies Can Take In The Benefits of The Betalain Family - April 06, 2010 -

Our bodies are truly amazing to say the least! One aspect of many, is the inner workings that goes on behind the scenes from the first bite of food, right through the entire digestive process, ultimately allowing each and every one of us life on a daily basis rival even the most intelligent minds.

The key player, our cells are comprised from the food that we eat, as such a good or a bad diet dictates whether or not we have balanced or unbalanced cells. In fact, foods that are absorbed during digestion and carried into the bloodstream are called bioavailable foods. If they are good for us they are called bioactive foods. If they neither improve our health nor detract from it they are called bio-neutral foods and if the foods we eat are toxic for us they are called biocidic foods, according to a recent article written by Brazo Minshew Chief Science Officer for TriVita.

So you ask, "what are Betalains anyway?" Betalains are bioflavonoids, a plant compound known for their antioxidant activity. Betalains are void in fruits and vegetables, but all 24 known Betalains are found in rich abundance in the Nopal Cactus Fruit better known as the "Prickly Pear Cactus".

So how does the Betalain family fit into this whole body thing? Further information from this same articles goes on to say, research showed that anti-inflammatory Betalains protected fats from being oxidized and turned into "bad" fats. Methyl linoleate (ML) is a common fat used in manufacturing detergent and other products. It can become carcinogenic (cancer-causing) if it oxidizes. Betalains protected ML from oxidizing. This antioxidant activity hindered the formation of inflammatory chemicals. Betalains slowed down the domino effect of toxic, rancid fats from becoming carcinogenic before they ever started!

All of this of course begs the question, can our body take in the goodness and reap the benefits of these wonderful potent anti-inflammatory, anti-toxin action of the Betalain family? According to Professors at the University of Palermo, Italy, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology involved in the study of Betalains, and their activity stated that Betalains are both bioavailable and bioactive!

We can improve the health of our cells, along with helping our bodies reduce inflammation, oxidation and the impact of toxins by taking in the Betalain family! The best way to drink in the wellness of Betalains is with Sonoran Bloom Nopalea.

Taking the Flame Out of Inflammation - April 04, 2010 -

Inflammation has been called the silent killer. Inflammation is a process in which the body's white blood cells and chemicals help protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses. However, "When inflammation occurs, chemicals from the body are released into the blood or affected tissues. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area of injury or infection and may result in redness and warmth. Some of the chemicals cause a leak of fluid into the tissues, resulting in swelling. This process may stimulate nerves and cause pain." [1]

"Inflammation as a major cause of disease is not new. It is at least a reasonable consideration that inflammation is involved with, if not the cause of, every other ill from which we suffer as a race. If that has not been true in the past, it is true today. No other cause of disease has a chance to take a foothold. Inflammation troubles have become so dominant that no other process may need to be considered. The cause of this inflammation is chemical toxicity." [2]

Do you suffer from inflammation? Read the article below from Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Office for TriVita, to learn more about inflammation.

Taking the "flame" out of inflammation by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer.

We usually describe the process of inflammation like a series of dominos all set up and ready for something to tip over the first domino and start the chain reaction. The first one tips over the second one, which tips over the third one and so on. This is called the "domino effect." Clever people can set up these dominos in an amazing array of complicated designs.

Inflammation is a process much like that. A single event may trigger a domino effect of inflammatory reactions. While many of the reactions are fairly predictable, many others are not. They seem to involve amazingly complicated patterns unique to the individual. Still, all inflammation exhibits five basic signs caused by four basic triggers.

Signs of inflammation

With tissue injury, inflammation is part of the healing process:

  1. Redness: An injured area needs an increased supply of nutrients and proteins carried in the blood. So, blood supply increases and the tissue turns red (Latin: rubor).
  2. Swelling : The injured area is bathed in healing proteins and substances to control bleeding, as well as an increased supply of plasma for transport of waste. This causes the injured area to swell (Latin: tumor).
  3. Pain: The injured area needs to be protected. We instinctively guard an injury because we feel or anticipate pain (Latin: dolor).
  4. Heat: The damaged tissue now becomes weakened and so it is susceptible to infection. White blood cells rush to the area and defend the fragile cells from microbes. A sign that this is working is heat or fever in the damaged area (Latin: calor).
  5. Loss of Function: This process is accompanied by a reduction in function of the injured area until it is healed (Latin: functio laesa).
The "dominoes" fall in the same predictable pattern if the injury is a sprained ankle or heart attack! No matter what triggers the inflammation, the process is the same.

Inflammation triggers

Inflammation is the response to four basic triggers: trauma, toxins, deficiency and stress. All four of these triggers cause tissue injury. Our body responds to injury with inflammation.

Trauma
We usually think of trauma as a direct injury that causes pain and distress. However, a sedentary lifestyle is also a serious cause of trauma. Why? Because our body was made to move! The more we move, the more we are able to move – and the more we want to move. The less we move, the less we are able to move. Our muscles and other tissues shorten and atrophy. Then, any movement causes injury. So, the less we move, the less we want to move.

Toxins
Toxicity causes cells to rupture in the same way that a needle causes a balloon to pop. Is there any doubt that we live in a toxic world? An article in National Geographic estimated that humans create 700,000 tons of pollution and waste every day! Between these "exotoxins" (toxins created outside our body), and "endotoxins" (toxins created inside our body), we are bathed in inflammation-producing poison every moment of every day. Any successful strategy for reducing inflammation must address the level of toxins we face.

Deficiency
Deficiencies also cause inflammation. For example, an omega-3 essential fatty acid (EFA) deficiency leaves the cell walls weak and unable to function normally. Again, cells are like balloons. If the balloon membrane is too thin, even a normal amount of air will make it pop. If the cell wall is too thin because of an omega-3 EFA deficiency, even normal cell activity will cause the cell to pop and trigger the domino effect of inflammation. Similarly, deficiency of other nutrients can have a catastrophic effect on cells within your body. (A deficiency in oxygen, water, sleep and circulation can also trigger inflammation.)

Stress
Emotional distress is also a cause of inflammation. When we appraise a situation to be stressful, our brain releases chemicals called catecholamines that trigger the release of many inflammatory processes. For example, stress causes the release of insulin – a pro-inflammatory hormone. Too much stress over too long a period of time will cause insulin resistance (IR), which is associated with obesity. Other stress-related chemicals reduce circulation to our digestive and reproductive systems and trigger inflammation from blood deficiency. Stress is a serious cause of inflammation!

First steps

We are made with the ability to respond to trauma, toxins, deficiency and stress with inflammation. Therefore, inflammation is not the enemy; however, runaway inflammation is definitely our enemy! Stop the domino effect of runaway inflammation before it starts by learning and living the 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness.

  • Reduce basic nutrient deficiencies through our Healthy Aging program.
  • Help reduce the effect of harmful toxins with Nopalea™.
  • Ease the disturbances caused by emotional distress with anti-stress adaptogens.

A word about Nopalea

Once runaway inflammation is triggered it follows an amazingly intricate course leading to catastrophe. It is as if tens of thousands of dominoes are falling in an extremely complex design. Many of the steps are known to medical science, but many are not. One thing we know and have known for thousands of years: stop the runaway inflammation and health will always improve! So, no matter what the "condition" is that is causing distress, reducing excess inflammation will always improve the way we feel.

Betalains in Nopalea are anti-inflammatory nutrients. They help your body do what it does best: repair with controlled inflammation while dousing the flames of runaway inflammation. So, we can say with confidence that if runaway inflammation is the problem, reducing that inflammation is part of the solution. Address the root causes of runaway inflammation by following the 10 Essentials, and taking Healthy Aging nutrients, adaptogens and Nopalea! ** END of ARTICLE **

You do not have to suffer from inflammation, nor do you have to take a risk with this deadly disease. There are ways to fight inflammation, as Mr. Minshew has explained. However, you have to take action.

I'm not a doctor or medical professional, but it seems to me that if we fight inflammation, the cause of much pain, we may not have to suffer from needless pain. So, in my opinion, to get pain relief that lasts, we should fight the source of that pain, and what better way to do that that with TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

A Detoxification Gift from The Sonoran Desert - February 08, 201

Pollution, as we know is all around us from the air we breathe, to the food we eat. There is no escape from toxins as they invade our bodies in a variety of different ways. Since we can't completely stop toxins from their destructive path, we can fight back!

Countless native Americans know the land holds many natural healing secrets, and one such secret is found in the desert, the Sonoran desert to be precise. It's the Nopal Cactus, featuring it's most amazing fruit. The robust pinkish color of the fruit gives way to it's secret, the amazing Betalains. There are 24 known Betalains all of which are essential for human health. Betalains are anti-toxin and anti-inflammatory, we all could use some of that!

There is a leader amongst the Betalains that helps detoxify and it's called beta xanthine. Beta xanthine is an important friend when it comes to detoxifying your liver and kidneys. Our bodies burn food in order to create energy and build health. As previously mentioned, toxins are on a never ending quest from both the outside elements and inside elements, which in turn hampers the body from doing it's job effectively.

A key player in creating toxins from within our body is uric acid. Uric acid is excreted by the kidneys, and too much build up of uric acid is poisonous and has been associated with heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, kidney stones and gout. Our kidneys are delicate and easily damaged by dehydration with too much protein, sugar, toxic metals like mercury and toxins like aspirin. Even temperature extremes like heat can affect them.

Our liver neutralizes uric acid with enzymes, and those same enzymes also detoxify many other poisons. Thus improving liver detoxification of uric acid helps in detoxifying other poisons which is a very good thing indeed! If your liver is fatty, sluggish or toxic, chances are you will be unable to complete the detoxification process...Guess what, with the help of our new found friend from the Sonoran Desert, Betalain beta xanthine can help improve your chances of detoxification as it aids by neutralizing toxins such as uric acid, thus increasing liver detoxification enzymes that clean up both outside and inside toxins, and as an added bonus, it may even reduce the shock our kidneys face from excessive heat! Now that's a win...win!

So drink in the wellness of the Betalain beta xanthine to help protect your precious assets, the liver and kidneys. Helping to detoxify your body, ultimately gaining better overall health!

A Little Known Beauty Secret Found in Nopal Fruit - February 08, 201

In the dry desert landscape there grows a plant with sharp needles, that can appear to be as unfriendly as the rattlesnakes, and lizards that dwell amongst it. Yet this amazing cactus plant is host to a most beautiful flower, adding color to this desolate land. It is the base of this pleasing flower that holds a key to helping our skin stay younger.

The lovely pinkish color is the precursor to a prestigious class of nutrients called "Betalains", as the Betalains give the fruit it's appealing color. These impressive nutrients are bioflavonids which are part of the Quercetin household. Bioflavonoids are a vitamin like substance that works in alliance with antioxidants such as Vitamin C. These colleagues work together to help our bodies make collagen, which makes our skin soft and supple, and helps strengthen our blood vessels, so we don't bruise so easily.

As we age and lose collagen, the structural protein that helps provide healthy elasticity, our skin thins, and as a result men and women fight to keep a youthful appearance from such predators as:

Crow's Feet - The outer corner of the eyes and upper and lower eyelids can become saggy and baggy as collagen levels lessen. Tear troughs (deep hollows under the eye sockets) can also form.

Drooping Brows - Depleting collagen can cause your eyebrows to droop, resulting in a hooded look over the eyelids.

Nasolabial Folds - Lack of collagen increases the appearance of the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Jowls- Jowls are due to excess skin, which occurs from a decrease in collagen, elastin and volume, drawing attention to unrefined contours.

Thin lips - Lost collagen leads to the development of lip lines and a loss of volume. Just to name a few.

In a society that spends billions with a "B" to stay youthful, with expensive cosmetic surgery, paying premium prices for fancy creams and lotions, countless visits to the dermatologists for botox injections, and other skin procedures, all in pursuit of beauty, could there be some help in the battle?

We all have heard people talk about how someone is beautiful on the inside. This is important, from the view point that good health is directly reflected on the outside of our bodies. Hence another saying "you are what you eat". In the ongoing battle for youthfulness, the fight should begin from within by taking good care of you. Start by eating a balance diet, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, and don't forget to take your Betalins in order to help make collagen, which in turns helps your skin look more vigorous and fresh.

One more piece of news for you regarding Betalins, it can also help reduce inflammation which Time Magazine deemed "The Silent Killer", sounds like a win, win to me...I take my Betalins, do you?

If you would like to drink in these powerful healing nutrients, the best source I have found is in a product called Sonoran Bloom Nopalea. What is Inflammation? - January 13, 2010

Inflammation is a process by which the body's white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses.

In some diseases, however, the body's defense system (immune system) inappropriately triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign substances to fight off. In these diseases, called auto immune diseases, the body's normally protective immune system causes damage to its own tissues. The body responds as if normal tissues are infected or somehow abnormal. What diseases are associated with inflammation?

Some, but not all, types of arthritis are the result of misdirected inflammation. Arthritis is a general term that describes inflammation in joints. Some types of arthritis associated with inflammation include:

Rheumatoid arthritis
Shoulder tendinitis or bursitis
Gouty arthritis
Polymyalgia rheumatica

Other painful conditions of the joints and musculoskeletal system that are not associated with inflammation include osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, muscular low back pain and muscular neck pain.

What are the symptoms of inflammation?

Inflammation is characterized by:

Redness Swollen joint that is warm to touch
Joint pain
Joint stiffness
Loss of joint function

Often, only a few of these symptoms are present.

Inflammation may also be associated with general "flu-like" symptoms including:

Fever
Chills
Fatigue/loss of energy
Headaches
Loss of appetite
Muscle stiffness

So what can you do about inflammation appropriately called "The Silent Killer" and for good reason as mentioned above. One thing you can do as a proactive approach to reducing inflammation is to try the juice of the Nopal cactus fruit which contains Betalains. Betalaines are a rare and potent class of antioxidants that flourish in the Nopal cactus fruit. Nopalea harnesses the power of this desert superfruit and its betalains to bring you scientifically proven health benefits.

Betalains are the pigments that give the Nopal cactus fruit its vibrant pink color. But that's just the beginning. They're also natural antioxidants-and they're only found in a few of the world's plants.

The Nopal fruit isn't just included in this small group of special plants, it actually leads the group by containing one of the highest amounts of betalains in all of nature.

So how can you harness the power of this desert superfruit?

When you drink Sonoran Bloom Nopalea, you take these betalains into your system, where they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Sonoran Bloom Nopalea can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease.

The Silent Killer Called Inflammation - December 13, 200

According to a recent article in Time magazine there is a potential killer that lies within, and its called inflammation. Inflammation is a condition that occurs when the body's natural immune response goes awry. It can go undetected for years, continually assaulting the brain, heart and immune system.

Inflammation is a process by which the bodyÂ’s white blood cells and chemicals protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses. When inflammation occurs normally, chemicals from the bodyÂ’s white blood cells are released to protect us from foreign substances. Sometimes, however, the white blood cells and their inflammatory chemicals cause damage to the bodyÂ’s tissues.

In some diseases, however, the bodyÂ’s defense system (immune system) inappropriately triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign substances to fight off. In these diseases, called auto immune diseases, the bodyÂ’s normally protective immune system causes damage to its own tissues. Fighting Inflammation - December 09, 200

In an article called, Inflammation: The New Medical "Bad Guy", by Bruce Bailey, Ph.D., starts by writing, "according to the latest medical theory, chronic inflammation is the root cause of almost every disease suffered by human beings." This should NOT be new news to anyone, as Hippocrates had this same theory hundreds of years ago.

What is inflammation?

According to Dr. Bailey, "as a part of our immune response system, inflammation occurs when the body is fighting germs that enter the body through a variety of ways, e.g. injury or inhalation. When you experience redness, swelling, heat, infection, and pain from a variety of ailments, it's a sign of inflammation".

So what happens if we fail to effectively fight and/or stop the inflammation? Dr. Bailey says"normally, the inflammation goes away when the body has conquered the infection or injury, but if the body fails to shut off the inflammation process, a more serious condition can occur."

What types of serious conditions is Dr. Bailey talking about? The most serious condition is a heart attack. If you have never considered inflammation and a heart attack related, look at Dr. Bailey's response to how inflammation can cause a heart attack.

"It is generally recognized that heart attacks occur when the blood vessels become clogged with 'plaque' (what we usually refer to as the bad LDL cholesterol) that is deposited on the vessel walls. This bad cholesterol also gets embedded inside arteries and our immune system 'attacks' it. Persistent inflammation in the arteries can eventually cause plaque to burst. Now many doctors use a simple blood test for inflammation called CRP (short for C-reactive Protein) to help assess a person's cardiac risk. CRP is an index of inflammation in the arteries and the CRP increases as inflammation increases. For example, test have shown that middle aged men with high CRP levels in their blood were three times more likely to suffer a heart attack in the next 6 years than men with normal levels. Medical experts say that a CRP of 3.0 mg/L or higher triples your heart attack risk. People with CRP less than 0.5 mg/L rarely have heart attacks."

How can we prevent heart attacks, fight inflammation, and lower our cholesterol all at the same time?

Most doctors will tell you diet and exercise are the best ways to lower cholesterol. However, does diet and exercise help fight inflammation? "According to the Center for Human Nutrition at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, some foods can cause inflammation while others can decrease it. Diets that are rich in fruits and vegetables, and foods that offer lots of Omega-3 fatty acids (such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, and walnuts) are best. Further, a diet of such foods has been shown to be instrumental in weight reduction, and lowering CRP and insulin resistance."

Since "chronic inflammation is the root cause of almost every disease" including heart attacks, we should take every measure possible to keep our bodies healthy and operating at peak performance. One way to keep your body operating efficiently and to also combat any germs and/or toxins that may exist inside your body is to drink TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea on a daily basis.

Why? Because Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ helps to fight inflammation naturally, through betalains, a very effective anti-inflammatory fighter which is found in the Nopal cactus, the key ingredient of Nopalea.

If it's true what Hippocrates said many years ago, that "all disease is one", and what doctors agree upon today, "chronic inflammation is the root cause of almost every disease", and if the majority of diseases are in some way related to inflammation, germs and toxins, doesn't it make sense to try TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™,

For information on how you can boost your health and extend your life by reducing chronic inflammation, go to the Sonoran Bloom web site by clicking on the previous link.

Inflammation and Autoimmune Disease Is There An Association? - December 04, 200

Do you suffer from an autoimmune disease, if you do, you are not alone. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there are over 80 autoimmune diseases, affecting millions of people, dishing out such mayhem as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus, type 1 diabetes and many more.

Let's start with understanding autoimmune dysfunction

Our immune system, is intended to protect us from illness and harmful substances called antigens. Normally, the immune system in response to antigens such as bacteria, viruses and toxins, produces antibodies that affix themselves to the antigens, ultimately destroying them and removing them from the body. Characteristics of a autoimmune disorder is when the immune system cannot differentiate antigens from normal cells. As a result, turns on itself trying to annihilate normal healthy tissue.

In alliance with our immune system is inflammation.

Inflammation fights side by side in defense by warding off such bad guys as germs and toxins. When the enemy shows up such as viruses or parasites inflammation attacks the trespassers and surrounds tissue that may have been debilitated or infected. It then subsides so the healing can begin. As defiant a soldier inflammation can be, it too can also spin out of balance by not getting the proper message from the commanding officer to stop the fight; not shutting off!

Such an aggressive defense team interwoven so carefully together for our good, can and does sometimes lead to the declaration of war as the body turns on itself assaulting normal healthy muscles and tissue. This in turn continually sounds the alarm for inflammation to continue the attack becoming ongoing and excessive!

As researchers and medical professionals continue to work on answers. What can be done to protect the body from chronic inflammation? They know that inflammation does have a big impact on chronic diseases. Inflammation is a very dangerous enemy indeed.

There is hope on the horizon to lessen the affects of inflammation, and it comes in the form of natural alternatives, such as diet, exercise, losing excess fat, and taking certain nutritional supplements.

One nutritional inflammation fighter is the amazing Betalins. Betalins can bring relief from pain by reducing inflammation, ultimately helping the body function better overall. Now isn't that a relief?

Until the battle is won as to why some immune systems cannot recognize antigens from normal cells, along with its counterpart, out of control inflammation, take heed in the fight with a wellness drink called Sonoran Bloom Nopalea! Come taste and feel the difference! Sonoran Bloom Nopalea

Inflammation - 112 - November 02, 200

I've been writing about inflammation, its causes, and how to fight it. My articles typically involve sharing information I found when doing searches on Google. I receive weekly health and wellness newsletters that contain important information regarding your health. As part of my passion for healthier lifestyles, I like to share that information with you.

There has never been a more important newsletter than the one I received this past weekend. It's by TriVita, and is written by Brazos Minshew, TriVita's Chief Science Officer. The article is called Important Health News - Protect Yourself from the Flu. As we all know, unless you've been living under a rock, the H1N1 flu virus is attacking Americans at an alarming rate.

Is there a way to protect your self from the H1N1 virus? According to Mr. Minshew, when it comes to fighting the flu we need to focus on three pathways, transmission, infection, and inflammation. In his article, he explains his theory. However, I'd like to focus on the third pathway, inflammation. Below is an excerpt form his article. To read the complete article, copy and paste the link at the bottom of this article into your web browser.

So, fires are designated as "one-alarm,""two-alarm,""three-alarm,"and so on.

So we don't use Vitamin C or Echinacea or anything that "boosts"the immune system. We use immune system modulators so we get exactly the right response. Quercetin (Betalains in Sonoran Bloom Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids), green tea polyphenols (found in Energy Now!) and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus found in Adaptogen 10 Plus) all balance the immune system and decrease the cytokine storm.

I know this may sound somewhat like an advertisement for TriVita products, well yes, and no. In my opinion, it's a way to protect yourself from the H1N1 virus. I believe we need help prevent the spreading of this terrible virus, and one way to do is is to protect yourself from getting it.

Mr. Minshew mentioned Sonoran Bloom Nopalea is his article. Nopalea helps to fight inflammation naturally, through betalains, a very effective anti-inflammatory fighter which is found in the Nopal cactus.

Inflammation and Alzheimer's Disease - October 26, 2009

I'm always into sharing information I find and/or receive regarding our health. Today I'd like to share an article I received regarding inflammation and its affect on the development of Alzheimer's disease. I'm including the article in its entirety to prevent any misinterpretation.

The article is written on October 22, 2009 by Patrycja Podrazik for Health Resources News. If you suffer from any form of inflammation or you know someone suffering from Alzheimer's disease, I highly suggest that you read this article.

A recent study has shed light on inflammatory mechanisms that may contribute to the development of AlzheimerÂ’s disease, an incurable neurodegenerative condition.

Research by Dr. William A. Banks, professor of geriatrics and pharmacological and physiological science at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, suggests inflammation causes a blood-brain barrier transporter known as LRP to malfunction.

The blood-brain barrier is a system of cells that regulates the exchange of substances between the brain and the blood, and LRP removes amyloid beta protein—the same compound that is found to accumulate in the brains of those affected by Alzheimer’s—from the brain and into the bloodstream.

"We induced inflammation in mice and found that it turned off the LRP pump," explains Banks.

"It also revved up an entrance pump that transports amyloid beta into the brain. Both of these actions would increase the amount of amyloid beta protein in the brain," he adds.

Natural compounds including antioxidants and vitamin D have been proven to reduce inflammation as well as contribute to weight loss and control, heart health and cancer prevention.

For those who may not get enough antioxidants from their diet, nutritional health supplements may be a good alternative. (ADNFCR-1960-ID-19265496-ADNFCR)*

I've written many articles about inflammation, and it seems that inflammation continues to be at the root of most diseases. I know what Hippocrates said, "all disease is one", and I wonder if he was referring to inflammation. Today, inflammation is the number one medical issue facing people in North America.

Fighting inflammation is an ongoing problem. There are many man-made prescription anti-inflammatory drugs on the market today. However, many of them can had adverse side-effects, especially if you're taking other medications. That's why TriVita has developed and tested Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

Nopalea helps to fight inflammation naturally, through betalains, a very effective anti-inflammatory fighter found in the Nopal cactus. When these betalains enter into your system, by drinking Nopalea™, they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. By helping the body reduce the toxins surrounding your cells and enabling essential nutrients to reach each cell, the betalains in Nopalea™ can reduce the inflammation in your body that leads to disease.

Nopalea's Great Taste - September 28, 20

I would have to say that TriVita, now with their anti-inflammatory, pain relief product, Sonoran Bloom Nopalea, has figured out the network marketing industry. They have created a work at home business model that cannot be beat. It's the only home business opportunity where you don't have to bug your family and friends. However, you can if you really want to show someone how to create a genuine work at home business, and create long term residual income.

I've been working this business for just over two years, and all it has done is continue to grow. And I have one gentleman in my upline whom stopped working the business for 7-8 months, came back only to find that his business has grown "exponentially." I don't think you can say that about many other network marketing businesses, of any at all. That is what TriVita is all about!

If you'd like to learn more about TriVita or Nopalea, call or email me. I'd love to share this terrific opportunity with you. I believe that TriVita is truly a work at home experience.

TriVita's Nopalea - 909 - September 08, 20

Chronic Pain Relief from Nopalea - May 02, 2010 - 1
We seem to live in a society of immediate gratification, where we want it now, not tomorrow.

Both scientific and empirical reports tell us that Nopalea is safe and effective in promoting wellness. Enjoy Nopalea often.

Fighting Inflammation

Pain Relief from Nopalea #2 - April 11, 2010 -

Pain Relief - 1102 - November 02, 200

I've been writing about natural pain relief associated with inflammation, its causes, and how to fight it.

So, fires are designated as "one-alarm,""two-alarm,""three-alarm,"and so on.

Nopalea helps to fight inflammation and naturally relieve pain associated with it, through betalains, a very effective anti-inflammatory fighter which is found in the Nopal cactus.

Pain Relief from Nopalea - October 27, 2009

I'm always into sharing information I find and/or receive regarding our health. Today I'd like to share an article I received regarding inflammation and its affect on the development of Alzheimer's disease. I'm including the article in its entirety to prevent any misinterpretation.

The article is written on October 22, 2009 by Patrycja Podrazik for Health Resources News. If you suffer from any form of inflammation and your looking for pain relief and/or you know someone suffering from Alzheimer's disease, I highly suggest that you read this article.

I've written many articles about inflammation and pain relief, and it seems that inflammation continues to be at the root of most diseases.

Nopalea helps to relieve pain and fight inflammation naturally, through betalains, a very effective anti-inflammatory fighter found in the Nopal cactus.

Chronic Pain Relief - 1016 - October 15, 2009

"Chronic pain lasts at least 6 months after your body has healed. Sometimes, people who have chronic pain don't know what is causing it. Along with discomfort, chronic pain can cause low self-esteem, depression and anger. It can also interfere with your daily activities."

"Treatment of chronic pain usually involves medicines and therapy. Medicines used for chronic pain include pain relievers, antidepressants and anticonvulsants. Different types of medicines help people who have different types of pain. You usually use long-acting medicines for constant pain. Short-acting medicines treat pain that comes and goes."

"Several types of therapy can help ease your pain. Physical therapy (such as stretching and strengthening activities) and low-impact exercise (such as walking, swimming or biking) can help reduce the pain. However, exercising too much or not at all can hurt chronic pain patients. Occupational therapy teaches you how to pace yourself and how to do ordinary tasks differently so you won't hurt yourself. Behavioral therapy can reduce your pain through methods (such as meditation and yoga) that help you relax. It can also help decrease stress." [1]

Lifestyle changes are an important part of treatment for chronic pain. Getting regular sleep at night and not taking daytime naps should help. Stopping smoking helps, also, because the nicotine in cigarettes can make some medicines less effective. Smokers also tend to have more pain than nonsmokers.

It has been reported that many forms of chronic pain comes from inflammation. Inflammation is an immune response; a response to an infection, an irritation, or an injury. Immune cells are called to the site through the blood stream. The blood vessels near the site become miraculously permeable and the site becomes warm and red due to the increased blood flow (warm, hence inflammation).

"When most people hear the word 'inflammation' they think of the swelling and redness that accompanies an injury such as a sprained ankle. However, inflammation can also be systemic and caused not by injury but by lack of exercise and a poor diet. Systemic inflammation increases the risk of cancer, hypertension, heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, and many other health conditions. In fact, many anti-aging experts believe that inflammation is the greatest cause of premature aging, so preventing it is also vital for looking young. Increasing exercise is one key to decreasing systemic inflammation, and the other key is to consume a diet that does not promote inflammation." [2]

"Healthy lifestyle habits such as exercising regularly, not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, and minimizing stress all help to reduce inflammation. But the most important factor in fighting inflammation is the food you eat every day. That's why all the experts, from diet doctor Barry Sears (The Zone) to alternative medicine guru Andrew Weil (Healthy Aging) recommend an anti-inflammatory diet for everything from weight loss to heart disease prevention." [3]

The cause of this inflammation is chemical toxicity." [4]

Many health experts suggest that you detoxify your body. In other words, rid your body of all the toxins that are either making certain organs work harder, or not work at all. When your organs aren't doing their job, your immune system may take over to rid your body of all the chemical toxicity.

One of the best ways of detoxify your body is by drinking TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™. Nopalea™ is derived from the Nopal cactus, a desert superfruit that is loaded with betalains, powerful and formerly rare antioxidants. Betalains are known as a natural and very powerful anti-inflammatory nutrient, one that fights inflammation and thus, helps to relieve chronic pain that is caused by inflammation.

For thousands of years, the people of the Sonoran Desert have tapped into the power of its native healing plants. Now with Nopalea™, you can too.

Stop the pain and help fight inflammation with Nopalea™. Don't take a man-made drug, like Celebrex, to fight something that is not man-made, but rather caused naturally within your body. Don't risk damaging other parts of your body, but rather protect the most complex design at a cellular level.

Pain Relief - 1014 - October 14, 2009

Of all the pain causing disorders, joint pain is the most common problem people face as they grow older. A recent report estimates that 21% of the adult population is affected by some form of joint-related pain. And that number is expected to rise even higher as baby boomers age, so by 2030, almost 67 million people will suffer from joint problems.

What can be done to relieve pain within the joints?

First off, we need to understand joint pain and some causes of joint pain. Joints which bear the most weight are mostly affected, like the knees, hips and spine.

Only as an example, let's focus on the knee. If you suffer from knee pain, you're not alone. According to the Mayo Clinic website, "almost one in three Americans older than age 45 reports some type of knee pain, and it's a common reason that people visit their doctors or the emergency room." [1]

There is a lot of information on the Mayo Clinic website (see links below), and since I'm not a medical professional, I can only quote the information they have posted. With that said, here is some information regarding knee pain symptoms:

"A knee injury can affect any of the ligaments, tendons or fluid-filled sacs (bursae) that surround your knee joint as well as the bones, cartilage and ligaments that form the joint itself. Because of the knee's complexity, the number of structures involved, the amount of use it gets over a lifetime, and the range of injuries and diseases that can cause knee pain, the signs and symptoms of knee problems can vary widely." [2]

Joint pain, not just in the knee, can be due to a variety of reasons. Age is the primary cause of arthritis, but other risk factors are obesity, heredity, injury such as a fracture, or athletes who overuse their joints. These factors are often associated with osteoarthritis.

Joint pain can also be caused by inflammation. Many of you have probably heard the term inflammation many times before. When you joint becomes inflammed, it causes severe pain, and limits your joints range of motion. Inflammed joints, according to some health care professionals, are the main reason people experience so much pain. What is inflammation and how does it relate to joint pain? And how do we get pain relief from that inflammatiom?

Inflammation is a process in which the body's white blood cells and chemicals help protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses.

"When inflammation occurs, chemicals from the body are released into the blood or affected tissues. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area of injury or infection and may result in redness and warmth. Some of the chemicals cause a leak of fluid into the tissues, resulting in swelling. This process may stimulate nerves and cause pain." [3]

"Increased blood flow and release of these chemicals attract white blood cells to the sites of inflammation. The increased number of cells and inflammatory substances within the joint can cause irritation, wearing down of cartilage (cushions at the end of bones) and swelling of the joint lining (synovium)." [3]

Again, I'm not a doctor or medical professional, but it seems to me that if we fight inflammation, the cause of musch joint pain, we may not suffer from joint pain. So, in my opinion, to get pain relief that lasts, we should fight the source of that pain, and what better way to do that that with TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

Nopalea's betalains and other anti-inflammatory ingredients work directly on the fluid surrounding your cells. There, they draw off the toxins and excess water to reduce inflammation and rebalance the cellular environment.

Nopalea will help you fight inflammation and give you the pain relief you may be looking for. If inflammation is the source of your pain, Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ is the solution.

Pain Relief FAQ (pt3) - October 07, 2009

As we conclude, I think the last question on the most frequently asked questions list, regarding TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™ is probably the most important of all. As mentioned in my previous two posts (where we covered the sugar, salt and iron content of Nopalea, and the compatibility of prescription medications) questions always arise when it comes to new health and wellness products. This is not unique to Nopalea!

Mr. Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita, writes a Weekly Wellness Report. In the latest report, he wrote about the top three questions asked regarding Nopalea™. This is the third most frequently asked question:

How much Nopalea can I take in a day?

"The label recommends one to three ounces daily. This is based on minimum amounts in otherwise healthy people. However, the greater the level of your inflammation, the more anti-inflammatory strategies you will need. That makes sense, doesn't it? You wouldn't want to quench a forest fire with a single bucket of water!" [1]

Endobronchial inflammation, the main cause of asthma, is one such disease that is treated with more than one anti-inflammatory strategy. According to an article published by Pub Med, the writer mentions the many different strategies one can use to treat asthma, and provide pain relief. However, and this is just my opinion, if we can prevent the inflammation, by using a product like Nopalea, we would not have to treat the disease. As a matter of fact, the article even mentions prevention. "Patients must be educated to increase their understanding of the benefits of preventive rather than symptomatic forms of treatment for this (asthma) chronic disease." [2]

To me, preventative medicine makes more sense, and if Nopalea can do one-half of what has been scientifically proven, many individuals will all be able to live more healthy and active lives. If you're looking for pain relief

Mr. Minshew continues by writing, "one member was experiencing a flare-up of a rheumatoid disorder. She had taken many remedies - prescription and non-prescription - and had seen chiropractors, acupuncturists and massage therapists. She had been in an unbroken cycle of pain for 18 months. She took additional ounces daily and broke the cycle of inflammation and pain in about three weeks. She continues to take it daily with no known adverse effects. And she is pain free."

"Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-term disease that leads to inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissues. It can also affect other organs. The cause of RA is unknown. It is considered an autoimmune disease. The body's immune system normally fights off foreign substances, like viruses. But in an autoimmune disease, the immune system confuses healthy tissue for foreign substances. As a result, the body attacks itself." [3]

Again, if Nopalea™ fights inflammation, and can help you get some much needed pain relief (two of its claims), you may be able to prevent RA before it attacks.

According to TriVita and Mr. Minshew, "in the early pilot trials of Nopalea we gave our test subjects 16 ounces daily. Not only did they not experience any known negative effects, their blood work universally improved."

So, here is the conclusion to the three most frequently asked questions regarding TriVita's Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™:

"So many of the maladies we suffer from today are related to inflammation. Nopalea contains Betalains; Betalains quench inflammation. Testimonials from around North America report amazing improvement in well-being with Nopalea. Science from around the world details the astounding health benefits from Betalains found in the Nopal cactus. Both scientific and empirical reports tell us that Nopalea is safe and effective in promoting wellness. Enjoy Nopalea often. I promise: we won't run out!" [1]

If inflammation is the problem - Nopalea™ may be the solution. If pain relief is your quest - Nopalea may be the solution.

Pain Relief FAQ (pt2) - October 06, 2009

As I mentioned in my previous post, when it comes any new health and wellness product there are always questions about why, when and how to use it. Sometimes there are even concerns regarding the product, which leads to the second most frequently asked question about Sonoran Bloom Nopalea,™ TriVita's wonderful anti-inflammatory and pain relief product.

Will Nopalea interfere with my medications?

According to TriVita's latest Weekly Wellness Report, Mr. Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita, has this to say about the interference of Nopalea with prescription drug medications:

"Your physician and pharmacist know you best - ask them! We will say this: With over 200 papers published on the benefits of the Nopal cactus superfruit in human health, we have not found even one negative reaction or drug interaction. The only caution we discovered concerns the blood-thinner warfarin (Coumadin)." [1]

"Warfarin is an anticoagulant. It is used to decrease the clotting ability of the blood and to help prevent harmful clots from forming in the blood vessels. It is often used to prevent or treat deep venous thrombosis, a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs. These blood clots can travel to the lungs and cause a condition called pulmonary embolism. Warfarin is also used to prevent or treat blood clots that are caused by certain heart conditions or open-heart surgery." [2]

If you take warfarin you need to speak with your pharmacist. Nopalea is a fruit juice. In rare instances, people on warfarin will be restricted from consuming fruit juices for a short time while their medication stabilizes. Only your physician and pharmacist know if you should be restricted from fruit juices at this time, so ask them before you take it. But TriVita has not found a single instance of drug interaction in the medical literature; Nopalea should be very safe, especially if you're drinking it because you're looking for pain relief that is caused by chronic inflammation.

Here are some warnings about Warfarin. These are taken from the Mayo Clinic website:

"Warfarin, especially if taken incorrectly, increases your risk of dangerous bleeding. Warfarin also can interact badly with some foods, prescription medicines and over-the-counter supplements. If you accidentally cut yourself while taking warfarin, you may bleed heavily. You're more likely to have bleeding problems if you're older than 75 or take other medications that can further increase your bleeding risk." [3]

While I did not find anything regarding a dangerous interaction between warfarin and Nopalea, I'll have to take TriVita's word on what they have found. I did see where cranberry juice and cranberries can have an affect on it. "Consumption of cranberries or cranberry juice can affect the way warfarin works and can increase your risk of bleeding. While an occasional glass of cranberry juice is unlikely to injure you, you should avoid drinking it regularly." [3]

Before taking any health and wellness supplement, talk to your doctor, especially if you're taking prescription medications. If you're suffering from inflammation, and looking for natural pain relief ask your doctor if Nopalea can help.

Pain Relief FAQ - October 05, 2009

As with any new health and wellness product, there are always questions about why, when and how to use it. The more popular the product, the more frequently the questions are repeated. This is the case with TriVita's newest product, Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™.

Within TriVita's latest Weekly Wellness Report, Mr. Brazos Minshew, Chief Science Officer for TriVita, attempts to answer some of the more common questions about Nopalea™, TriVita's wonderful anti-inflammatory and pain relief product.

The most frequently asked questions are too important not to dedicate an individual post for each question. Because of the importance of these questions, I'll break them down into three separate articles and then try to find some research, or case studies, if applicable, to back up what Mr. Minshew has to say. I may also leave you with a thought provoking question, something for you to ponder.

How much sugar, salt and iron are in Nopalea?

"Nopalea™ contains NO ADDED SUGAR. It is naturally sweet. Yet it is still low-calorie and low-carbohydrate. Interestingly, the calories and carbohydrates will change from batch to batch depending on the harvest. Nopalea is "wildcrafted," meaning that Nopalea is not cultivated, and no fertilizers, pesticides or chemicals of any kind are ever used - ever! It is harvested from the Sonoran Desert by natives just as it has been for thousands of years. Since it is not cultivated, the concentration of sugars and minerals in the plant change depending on how much rain we have that year. The label will accurately reflect the concentration of constituents for that harvest." [1]

When it comes to products that have been wildcrafted, there are strict guidelines that must be followed. According to Wikipedia, "in the United States of America, wildcrafted plants are regulated by the Organic Food Production Act of 1990. Harvesters must designate the area they are harvesting and provide a three-year history of the area that shows no prohibited substances have been applied there. A plan for harvesting must show that the harvest will sustain the wild crop. No prohibited substances can be added by processors." [2]

So as you can see by these strict guidelines, you can be assured that Nopalea is truly an all natural organic pain relief product.

Mr. Minshew says that in providing the proper nutritional information to the consumer, Nopalea™ does present a challenge, and he continues his discussion by saying, "Nopalea™ is the first product of its kind. Therefore, no "standards" data existed before we created them. So, label changes happen because we created the testing standards to accurately measure the rare and powerful constituents of Nopalea." As mentioned previously, Nopalea™ comes from the nopal cactus that is found in the Sonoran Desert, located in the southwestern United States, and the northwestern parts of Mexico. Some historians have said that the ancient Mexican cultures, living in the high mountain volcanic regions, originally adopted the Nopal prickly pear cactus as a healing food, for pain relief, and treasured this high mountain variety, relegating Nopal cactus as the supreme healing plant and food among its kings and warriors.

I'm not sure if that statement is correct, but if you search Google for Sonoran Bloom Nopalea, this is the type of information you will find, and nothing about other products created using the nopal cactus. As we all know, if there was another product, you would find it on the web by searching Google. So judge for your self! Is Nopalea™ a one of a kind product?

The Nopal fruit isn't just included in this small group of special plants, it actually leads the group by containing one of the highest amounts of betalains in all of nature.

When you drink Sonoran Bloom Nopalea™, you take these betalains into your system, where they begin to restore your vitality on a cellular level. Golf Business Franchise

Many people choose to purchase a business franchise rather than start a business themselves. Just as there are many people, there are just as many different reasons. Research regarding business franchises has shown that over 80% of them are still in business after five years. This rate is tremendously higher than the independent business start-up venture. Furthermore, a person may choose to purchase a business franchise, like golf, in an effort to combine a hobby they are passionate about with a business system that is proven to have positive financial rewards. This may seem like the best of both worlds to some people!

Choosing a business franchise based around your hobby is probably one of the best ways to become successful. Buying this type of business franchise give one the feeling of doing what they love, rather than going to a job. It gives a person more motivation, and more joy in their life. How would you love to do something that you are passionate about? Wouldn't you be more energetic towards that type of job, or business opportunity? There's just something about doing what you love to do, and making money at it.

There are plenty of business franchises available, just search Google. But how many are there that coincide with your passions, desires, or hobbies? Probably not too many! On the other hand, they are out there, you just have to find them. And the best way to do that is on Google. Go to Google and type in the keyword of your hobby and see what pops up. Here's just an example of the golf business franchises found on Google.

* Golf Scotland - Promote worldwide golf tours to consumers, businesses, and groups! Full training in Scotland.
* Golf Etc. of America - Own your own shop and merchandise! Buy direct from manufacturers. Turnkey and no quotas or limits.
* Golf USA, Incorporated - Entrepreneur Magazine's #1 Rated Golf Franchise for 2007!
* Golf Greens Fore U - The largest golf artificial turf company. No royalties. No nights or weekends. Work from home.
* Pro Golf - Turn your passion for golf and business into a career as a Pro Golf franchisee.
* Caddy Card - Golf Business - turn your love of golf into a profitable business with the Caddy Card.

Golf is a sport enjoyed by those young and old, from the executive to the junior athlete. The specialty market, or business franchise, for golf and golf-related services has become equally as popular and quite successful. If you're passionate about golf and are considering becoming your own boss, join the golf industry and start enjoying your work. Ranging from providers of golf equipment to organizations that plan golf tours and events, there are many options to choose from.

Do you have a passion for golf and owning a business franchise? If so, becoming a golf franchisee may be the perfect business for you to own.

Many Business Franchises Rely on Location

One of the great things about a business franchise is that it takes a lot of the work out of starting your own business. With many business franchises, promoting your company is already taken care of. If you are starting a McDonald's franchise, for example, you don't need to take out ads. Everyone already knows McDonald's and either likes it or doesn't. You simply have to have a restaurant in a convenient location where people drive past every day. The rest will take care of itself.

Of course, business franchises don't always work out the first time. Many business franchises simply don't have a good enough location at first. There are many people that open a business franchise and at first, it does all right, but after a few months they fold. Most franchisees, simply put, work too hard for not enough money. On the other hand, when the same franchisee reopens in a better location, business will take off right away. Soon, they are practically rolling in the money. Just by changing locations, many franchisees can turn their business franchise into one of the most profitable franchises in their town. Even though the franchisor takes a big cut of the profits, there is still plenty of money left for the franchisee.

How many times have you heard someone say location, location, location; location is everything. With some business franchises that's is so true, but with others, it does not matter. If you own a home based business franchise, it can prosper from any location, whereas, a McDonalds, Quiznos, or Burger King business franchise relies highly on its location. High traffic areas are a must for a lot of business franchises to survive. Without the proper location, a franchise can struggle and then wind up folding in a very short period of time.

Choosing the Right Business Franchise

You have several choices, if you ever decide to start a business, or buy a franchise. Franchise opportunities are everywhere. All you have to do is search Google. You could start a small business franchise that is based on filling a specific need in your community. For example, you could start a babysitting service or a house cleaning service. On the other hand, you may decide to open a small business franchise similar to one that you have seen in another city. This business may be different from anything else in your area.

Another reason that you would choose to start a small business franchise is to have a big name (brand) associated with your business. By doing so, this would help give your business a measure of legitimacy that it might not otherwise have. Buying a franchise not only gives you a measure of legitimacy, but also give you a measure of security. Having the support of a larger company is what some people prefer. You do not get that went you start a business on your own.

No matter what your reason, if you decide that you want to start a small business franchise, the first thing you need to consider is how you are going to finance the franchise. Franchise fees alone can run from a few thousand dollars to over a million dollars, depending on the type of business. In addition to the franchise fees, you will need to consider the cost of leasing the space you will occupy, and don't forget to account for other start-up expenses. Franchise fees and other start-up costs are in addition to the day to day operating expenses incurred from running any business. Getting a loan for the franchise start-up expenses will allow you to use your money as operating capital.

Make sure you understand how much it will take to not only get your small business franchise started, but also how much it will take to run the business on a daily or monthly basis. You don't want to short change yourself trying to make ends meet every single month. Running a small business franchise on a shoestring can be stressful. Take that from someone who knows all to well.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) will sometimes offer financing to start a small business franchise, although it may be easier to get a Commercial Franchise Loan. The terms for these loans may be more lenient for certain types of franchises. Even though the SBA is designed to help small businesses and start ups, they will sometimes look at the competitors in the area to decide whether they are going to loan you the money. Starting a small business franchise that's unique in your town may be a good thing. On the other hand, if you're trying to start a franchise like an auto repair shop or a dry cleaner, and there are other auto repair shops or dry cleaners in the area, they may turn down your loan.

Choosing the right small business franchise, in the right area can be beneficial in more ways than one. So it's important to do your research to find the right franchise opportunity, learn as much as you can about the franchisor, and to make sure how you're going to finance the small business franchise of choice.

Considering a Business Franchise? Find a Mentor.

Considering a small business franchise, to turn your dreams into reality? That's a tough task! Make sure you seek out someone who is familiar with business franchises, and if that person is honest and is a person of integrity, heed their advice. Finding the right person can be just what the doctor ordered. They can help you with your decision making process.

When talking to that person, make sure you are clear about the reason you want a small business franchise. Is it a business that will give you a day to day job, or simply a sound investment that will put others to work. Also share what your ultimate goal is. Some small business franchises demand that you own and operate your business while others allow you to hire the personnel to run your business. Your mentor can help you with theses and other concerns.

If you're unable to locate a mentor, or someone that's willing to share his or her experiences with you in person, try to find some advice online. Is a Business Franchise For You?

Almost all people have the vision of running their own business someday. However, only a handful of those people get to have that dream. There are a lot of impediments that are encountered and plenty of what-ifs, especially if you are considering to open a new business franchise. For most people, this is all too risky. Why? A franchise ownership would be the safest solution to your entrepreneurial ambition.

If you are looking at getting into a business yourself then franchising may be just the thing you are looking for especially if you are either going into a new business venture or a brand new industry. As a franchiser you will immediately become a partner in the business which gives you that credibility and experience that you will need. It will also provide you with support and procedure training that would not be available to you if you were to start a business in your own.

The best franchisers for you to go to are the ones that are willing to provide you with inventory and equipment. You have the opportunity to take advantage of the franchiser's buying power because of their name even if they do not directly sell you supplies, equipment or inventory.

Royalties represent a significant part of the franchiser's revenue stream and therefore the franchiser makes more money when you make more money. Consequently you are at an advantage, because you have the opportunity to purchase items from them or from a competitive vendor, they will always provide you with the best value. This is one of the benefits that you receive by becoming a partner in their business.

When you buy a franchise, you lessen the investment risk. You have immediate name recognition since the product or service that you are offering is relatively known. This would also include training and support that will certainly help you out in your business. Nonetheless, like any other business ventures, success is still not a guarantee.

Acquiring a business franchise would be the best stepping stone for entrepreneurs to enter the complex world of small business ownership. There are a lot of advantages in franchise ownership, however, it also has its own set of downsides. If you have considered all the aspects and are still raring to go into this business, then there are various ways to find franchise prospects. Choose a business franchise that is suitable for you, sign that agreement, do all the necessary leg work, and you are all set to be an entrepreneur.

If you haven't found the information you were looking for here, go to a Franchise Solution to get additional information about alternatives to a business franchise. Things to Consider When Buying a Business Franchise

There are lots of things to consider when buying a business franchise. Some things are obvious, and some are not. When looking for a business franchise not only will you be looking for the best possible fit for you, but the franchisor will be interested to see if their business franchise is the best fit for you. Most franchisors want to make sure their business is right for you. When discussing business franchises with others it's generally suggested that they keep the following things in mind.

The number one thing franchisors look at is your current financial situation. This plays a major role in buying a business franchise. Other questions that have to be answered are:
1. Do you have the financial resources the franchisor requires to buy a business franchise?
2. If not, where are you going to get the needed capital?

Some business franchises require a nominal franchise fee while others require larger franchise fees, real estate investments, inventory, and other asset purchases. The amount of money you have to invest will play an important part in the franchise you choose.

Another important factor that play an important part when looking to buy a business franchise is the sustainability of your financial position. In other words, if you've just invested a large amount of money in a new franchise business, how long can you survive with your new business before you start seeing a return on your investment? Some people may need immediate cash flow to survive, while others can wait months and even years before they see any substantial return on their investment. It's critical to have additional sources of financing, including friends and/or relatives in the event that your initial financing proves inadequate.

The type and model of a business franchise is the next governing factor that helps you in the decision making process. There are many happy and successful franchise owners who started looking at business franchises thinking they wanted to own a fast food franchise yet after serious research ended up with something like a cleaning franchise! It's important to keep an open when when looking at business franchises. Everyone has certain industries they think they would love to work in but then wind up in an entirely different area. Do yourself a favor; do not get your heart set on being the proud owner of a particular business and end up forcing a square peg into a round hole while overlooking more realistic and feasible business opportunities. Make sure you seek something you think you will love doing, but also keep an open mind as well.

Always take your experience into account when buying a franchise. Ask yourself these defining questions:
1. What have I done in the past?
2. What am I good at that will help my franchise grow?

Some franchises are looking for people with very specific skill sets and experience, while others prefer training someone from scratch.

If considering buying a franchise, seek out and take advice of someone who is familiar with buying a franchise. Be clear about the fact that you're looking for a business that gives you a day to day job, or simply sound investments that put others to work? Make sure you know what your ultimate goal is. Some business franchises demand that you own and operate your business while others allow you to hire the personnel to run your business. A qualified franchise consultant can help you research. Be clear about the facts. Are you looking to own and operate this business for many years to come, or just looking to get it up and running so you can sell it to someone at a later date?

These are just a few of the things you need to consider before buying a business franchise. Use your heart, but also use your head, your pencil, your calculator, your accountant, your attorney, your family and any other resource you can to help you make the proper decision.

If you're looking for a business franchise but don't want to spend an arm or a leg, why not consider an alternative business. The Home Business Marketing Group has just that business. It is not a business franchise, nor is it intended to be promoted as such. The Home Business Marketing Group promotes buying customers, not leads as part of their marketing strategy.

Becoming successful with a professional business franchise

Becoming successful with an online or off line business takes effort and realization. The first thing someone must do is realize that very highly profitable franchises like McDonalds, Subway, Great Clips, Taco Bell, Midas Muffler, Burger King, Coca Cola, Dunkin Donuts, Wendy's and many other business franchises all have a business plan for those who purchase their franchises.

Most businesses that are run out of the house also have business plans; most are Very Simple 3 Step Business Plans, easy for anyone to follow because everything is already in place. When mentioning home businesses, the company, or business franchise you purchase, does 95% of the work for you. There are usually no large outlays of cash, no inventory to stock, no business experience necessary, no college degree necessary, and no loans to take out. Also you do not need an office to rent.

In truth there are only three (3) things a professional business person needs to do in order to start the ball rolling:

  1. Order Products each month or better yet Contact the company's Auto-Ship Program.
  2. Add fresh people to your group every month. The best ways is through some sort of Co-op Advertising Program, lead generating system, or through search engine optimization. The later is where Google takes over.
  3. Persuade the new members that have Contacted your group to follow your pattern.

....... That's it!!! Can owning a professional business franchise be any easier than that? Now, don't fool yourself. Doing very little or zilch produces very little or zilch. You will have to put in the time to endorse your franchise system, but you will not have to kill yourself trying.

Keep this Bible verse in the back of your mind when deciding if a professional business franchise is right for you.

Galatians 6:7 "A man reaps what he sows." (NIV)

Business Franchise

When people tell me that they have an ice cream business franchise, here's what happens: I usually get a big smile on my face and I say something about how much I love Cold Stone Creamery, and how great it must be to work in such a fun business. And I always smile in return and say something like, "Yes, it is, and I'm glad you love Cold Stone."

I mean every word of it. Working in the ice cream business franchise is great. But make no mistake -- it is still a business and it is still work. The minute any of us, either at Creamery Headquarters or in our stores, forget that fact, it will be the instant we lose our perspective on the realities of what it takes to stay successful. And that goes for any franchising professional, whether he or she is in the pizza business or the dry-cleaning business. We are all in business, and with it come the good times and the challenging ones.

From an article I found while searching Google about business franchises, I came upon this one, and would like to share it with you. To read the complete article, you can go to, http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120277581067260557.html?mod=SmallBusinessFranchising_RelatedHeadlines

Starting a business franchise in a recession carries plenty of risks. But one way to reduce the chance of failure may be with a business franchise -- particularly one that has done well in previous downturns.

There are hundreds of possibilities to choose from. If it's a business concept, someone probably has sought to make it into a business franchise. For help in picking one during a financial slump, here's some advice gleaned from franchisees, franchisers and other industry sources.

Focus on tried-and-true name brands. They're likely to be more expensive to buy into, but the premium will be justified because of their public recognition and proven track record. And when trouble occurs -- as even in the best of systems it will -- they'll be better equipped with safety nets woven from long experience. Larger, established franchised systems also often have independent franchisee organizations, which can offer invaluable assistance and advice.

A Low Cost Business Franchise

Owning a Business Franchise takes time, dedication, and hard work. Are you up to putting forth the effort it takes to become successful? Owning a Business Franchise can also take a lot of money, although it doesn't have to. There are plenty of inexpensive, or low cost Business Franchisees available, all you have to do is search Google.

Back to putting forth the effort, even if you decide on a low cost business franchise, you will still have to put forth the effort to make it work. As mentioned previously, running a business takes time, and effort to become prosperous, but it doesn't have to take your life savings. A low cost Business Franchise may be an option for you.

I've mentioned the low cost business franchise before in my posts because not everyone has the money to purchase a McDonald's, Wendy's or Burger King. If you're like the majority of people, and you want to own a Business Franchise, take a look at a low cost Business Franchise. Go to Google, and type in, low cost franchise, and see what is available, you just may be surprised.

If you don't find what you are looking for, go to a Franchise Solution to get additional information about alternatives to a business franchise. If you have any questions after checking it out, you can contact me for additional information. But remember, whether you choose a traditional Business Franchise, or a low cost Business Franchise, it still takes hard work to be prosperous. If you're up to the task, do your due-diligence.

A Franchise Solution holds a great reputation for the best business franchise information you will find on Google.

Franchise Opportunity 727 - September 19, 20

A Proven Franchise Opportunity

Re-Bath is the ideal home improvement franchise opportunity for the hands-on enthusiast. You can manage your own successful business and become part of the Re-Bath network across America!

This is a huge market which gives you the opportunity to earn the income you've always dreamed of while making your own decisions.

If Re-Bath sounds like the area of business you've been looking into, this could be the best franchise for you! So let us tell you more...

Owning a Re-Bath Franchise will provide you with a proven business opportunity. Over 84 million homes in the United States are over 15 years old, and each of these homes has at least one bathroom. That is a huge number of bathtubs, showers and walls in the residential market alone. Now add apartments, dormitories, military housing units, H.U.D. projects, hotels and motels to the equation.

To meet this nationwide demand for Re-Bath products, Re-Bath LLC, established what is now the largest franchise network in the industry. Our comprehensive approach, excellent products, years of experience, sound management and positive reputation all combine to give you an unique opportunity in the booming remodeling industry.

As a Re-Bath franchisee you get the following:

* Prime exclusive territory
* The industry's leading products
* Ongoing operational and marketing support
* Complete nice day training program
* Proprietary Product
* Patented installation Technology

All of this really sounds great, and I'll bet that Re-Bath is a terrific company, BUT when it comes to owning a franchise opportunity like Re-Bath, or any of the thousands of franchise opportunities out there, there's one small problem, employees. Most employees, even though well trained, will not work like the business owner. They will take days off at inopportune times, and they will not show up when you really need them. Employees can make or break a business. Keep that in the back of your mind if your looking for a franchise opportunity.

So, is owning a franchise business where employees are a necessity the type of business opportunity you want?

If NOT, there may be a better way! There is a way to make money with a business that is an alternative to a franchise business. It is NOT a franchise business or a franchise opportunity, as a matter of fact, it's actually better than any franchise business that the average person can afford. Affordability is the key, not to mention the income potential.

Franchise Opportunity 724 - September 19, 20

Franchise Opportunity

Franchises are an enormous part of our economy, and franchise opportunities are in abundance. If you think about it, I'll bet over 50% of all retail sales generated in the United States are generated by franchise businesses. Why do you suppose I feel that way? Because franchising allows multiple business owners to capitalize on the expertise of others. Simply stated, franchise opportunities provide you with:

* The systems you need to run your business
* The training programs to help you operate your business
* Advertising campaigns designed to help you establish the brand
* The purchasing power of a larger organization
* A support system to help you get started and stay on track

Think of a franchise opportunity as paying someone for his or her business strategy, marketing strategy, operations strategy, and the use of his or her name. That's pretty much what franchise opportunities are -- you are establishing a relationship with a successful business so you can use their systems and capitalize on their existing brand awareness in order to get a quicker return on your own investment. You are using their proven system and name, and running your own franchise opportunity by their rules.

Are you still your own boss? In some respects, no. You still have to answer to someone else and follow his or her direction. You don't really own the business; you own the assets you've purchased in order to establish the business.

If you're looking for a franchise opportunity where you can be your own boss, and don't want to spend an arm or a leg, why not consider an alternative business. The Home Business Marketing Group has just that business. It is not a franchise opportunity, nor is it intended to be promoted as such. The Home Business Marketing Group promotes buying customers, not leads as part of their marketing strategy. To learn more, go to Home Business Marketing Group

How Much Money Can You Make With a Franchise Opportunity?

When searching out a franchise opportunity, one of the most difficult pieces of information to get from the franchisor is the amount of money you can make with their franchise opportunity. This may be frustrating because most people are not going to invest in a business until they have a fairly accurate idea of what they can earn. In most cases the franchisor is not purposely being difficult. The Federal Trade Commission (F.T.C.) and many states have stringent regulations as to how franchisers can provide this information to prospective franchisees. However, there are ways to get this important information.

Many franchisers used unjustified or misleading earnings claims to sell their franchise opportunities, so in 1979 Congress passed legislation authorizing the F.T.C. to regulate the franchise industry, with an effort to try and stop any such bad practices. Many states also passed similar legislation. The current F.T.C. and state rules do not forbid a franchise company from supplying information about the earnings that can be achieved in their business. They do, however, regulate how the information is given to a prospective franchisee.

The Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) contains a lot of information and that is where the franchise provides their earnings claims, so it's in writing. It is also essential for the franchisor to make sure that the information provided is accurate and not misleading. They (franchisor) need to clearly label any assumptions or qualifications on the data provided.

A franchisor is free to provide whatever earnings information they want to a perspective franchisee in terms of sales, expenses, cash flow and income, assuming they meet the legal requirements.

Once you have earnings data, your next question will be whether the probable earnings represent a good return on your investment.

If you are going to invest in a franchise opportunity, you are not only investing both your time/talent, but also your hard earned money. With that in mind, you should expect a greater return on your investment (ROI) than you would for a more passive investment, like your money only.

So what is a good ROI? If a good return on a money only investment is 10% to 15% per year, you'll want to see a greater return with a franchise opportunity. After all, is your time worth anything? In my opinion, the time you invest into your new business should yield a return at least equal to the return on the money you invest. Don't you think that is fair? Now, this may not happen the first year but it certainly should in the years to come.

Another important point to ponder, a higher franchise opportunity investment does not mean a higher rate of return. Although this may seem contrary to common knowledge, there are plenty of low to mid-range franchise opportunities that provide a greater return on investments. Do yourself a favor; don't limit yourself to high-investment franchises only when seeking a business with a high ROI.

The amount of money you make as a franchisee depends on a lot of factors, like the structure of the franchise, how long the franchise has been in operation, how well you understand and embrace the system, how enthusiastic are you for the business, and how will it help you to achieve your dreams. With a little research you will be able to get enough information to decide if this franchise opportunity makes financial sense to you.
